Virus: System Warning! 4 errors found [RESOLVED]

First of all I have used almost every spy search software: ad-aware, spybot, ewido security. And Norton Antivirus with all updates.

I found a lot of spyware and deleted them. For example PS Guard, Smitfraud-C, some trojans, and so on.

So I have removed red dot with exclamation mark from next to clock but I still have yellow triangle there. And that triangle time to time messages for example:
System Warning: 4 errors found
-your computer has slowed down...

That yellow triangle also directs me to some web site where i could by some spy removal sotware.


Now i have HijackThis log But I don't know what to delete.

Hello Turre in Finland and welcome to Geeks to Go

As an introduction, please note that I am not Superhuman, I do not know everything, but what I do know has taken me years to learn. I am happy to pass on this information to you, but please bear in mind that I am also fallible.

Please note that you should have Administrator rights to perform the fixes. Also note that multiple identity PC’s (family PC’s) present a different problem; please tell me if your PC has more than one individual’s setting.

Before we get underway, you may wish to print these instructions for easy reference during the fix, although please be aware that many of the required URLs are hyperlinks in the red names shown on your screen. Part of the fix may require you to be in Safe Mode, which may not allow you to access the internet, or my instructions!

You have very little malware or Trojans showing in your HJT log that need to be eradicated. I feel that you may have some remnants of a previous infection present, so I am suggesting a more comprehensive fix. Let’s see what we can do with the first sweep.

Please open Spybot S & D, and turn off Resident Teatimer. Do this by clicking Mode at the top of the screen, choose Advanced Mode then Tools and then Resident and unchecking Teatimer. It will hinder our attempts to clear out some files that need to be removed.

Download smitRem.zip and save the file to your desktop.
Right click on the file and extract it to it's own folder on the desktop.

Place a shortcut to Panda ActiveScan on your desktop.

If you have not already installed Ad-Aware SE 1.06, follow these download and setup instructions, otherwise, check for updates:
Ad-Aware SE Setup
Don't run it yet!

Next, please reboot your computer in SafeMode by doing the following:
  • Restart your computer
  • After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
  • Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
  • Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.
Please re-open HiJackThis and scan. Check the boxes next to all the entries listed below.

O3 - Toolbar: Adobe PDF - {47833539-D0C5-4125-9FA8-0819E2EAAC93} - C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 7.0\Acrobat\AcroIEFavClient.dll (file missing)
Now close all windows other than HiJackThis, then click Fix Checked.

Please set your system to show all files; please see here if you're unsure how to do this.

Please delete this file (if present) using Windows Explorer:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\msole32.exe

Close Windows Explorer

Open the smitRem folder, then double click the RunThis.bat file to start the tool. Follow the prompts on screen.
Wait for the tool to complete and disk cleanup to finish.

The tool will create a log named smitfiles.txt in the root of your drive, eg; Local Disk C: or partition where your operating system is installed. Please post that log along with all others requested in your next reply.

Open Ad-aware and do a full scan. Remove all it finds.

Run Ewido:
  • Click on scanner
  • Click on Complete System Scan and the scan will begin.
  • NOTE: During some scans with ewido it is finding cases of false positives.
  • You will need to step through the process of cleaning files one-by-one.
  • If ewido detects a file you KNOW to be legitimate, select none as the action.
  • DO NOT select "Perform action on all infections"
  • If you are unsure of any entry found select none for now.
  • When the scan is finished, click the Save report button at the bottom of the screen.
  • Save the report to your desktop and post in to me in your reply.
Close Ewido

Next go to Control Panel click Display > Desktop > Customize Desktop > Web > Uncheck "Security Info" if present.

Reboot back into Windows and click the Panda ActiveScan shortcut, then do a full system scan. Make sure the autoclean box is checked!
Save the scan log and post it along with a new HijackThis Log, the contents of the smitfiles.txt log and the Ewido Log by using Add Reply.
Let me know if any problems persist.

Thanks a lot. I think it was that C:\WINDOWS\system32\msole32.exe file which caused the trouble. And I found that same solution you gave from

If someone needs a quick assistance with their log file go to that web site. You only have to copy paste your hijackthis log file and in a second the page gives you possible sollutions which files are infected.

Please do not post links to sites where automated processes give answers to problems. There are lots of those around and frankly they are not that good and have been known to show system files infected, which render the PC useless if deleted.

However it is comforting to know that a robot agreed with me on this occasion. ;)

Did the robot also tell you that you might have some remnants of a previous infection and how to clean it? :tazz:
