Disclaimer
This service is by no means 100% safe. If this scanner says 'OK', it does not necessarily mean the file is clean. There could be a whole new virus on the loose. NEVER EVER rely on one single product only, not even this service, even though it utilizes several products. Therefore, I cannot and will not be held responsible for any damage caused by results presented by this non-profit online service.

Also, I am aware of the implications of a setup like this. I am sure this whole thing is by no means scientifically correct, since this is a fully automated service (although manual correction is possible). I am aware, in spite of efforts to proactively counter these, false positives might occur, for example. I do not consider this a very big issue, so please do not e-mail me about it. This is a simple online scan service, not the university of Wichita.

Scanning can take a while, since several scanners are being used, plus the fact some scanners use very high levels of (time consuming) heuristics. Scanners used are Linux versions, differences with Windows scanners may or may not occur. Another note: some scanners will only report one virus when scanning archives with multiple pieces of malware.

Virus definitions are updated every hour. There is a 15Mb limit per file. Please refrain from uploading tons of hex-edited or repacked variants of the same sample.

Please do not ask for viruses uploaded here, unless you work for an anti-virus vendor. They are not for trade. This is a legitimate service, not a VX site. Viruses uploaded here will be distributed to antivirus vendors without exception.

Sponsored by donations (in random order) from: Stormbyte Technologies LLC, The ClamAV project, James Love, Gideon Pertzov, Malcolm Murray, Nigel Thomas, Wendy Dickerson, Anthony Midmore, "ethereal", Mark Rubins, Steve S., Eric Johansen, Eric Schechter, Paul Bokel, Wilders Security, Wilfried Lilie, Prevx, SonicWALL, and some people who prefer to remain anonymous... many thanks to all!

OK, go to C:\Program Files\Common Files\AOL\AOL Spyware Protection\Backup\ and delete everything in there.

Then give me these logs:

* Download WinPFind http://www.bleepingc...es/winpfind.php
o Double click on WinPFind and unzip it to your Desktop.
o Don 't do anything with it yet!
* Download Track qoo http://www.geekstogo...ds/Trackqoo.zip
o Save it to the Desktop.

Restart your computer and boot into Safe Mode by hitting the F8 key repeatedly until a menu shows up (and choose Safe Mode from the list). In some systems, this may be the F5 key, so try that if F8 doesn't work.

Double click WinPFind.exe

* Click 'Start Scan'
* It will scan the entire system, so please be patient!
* Once the scan is complete:
1. Go to the WinPFind folder
2. Locate WinPFind.txt
3. Copy those results in the next post!

Reboot back to Normal Mode!

Double click on 'Track qoo.vbs'

Note - If you have an anti-virus program that has script blocking features, you will get a pop up window asking you what to do. Allow this entire script to run. It's harmless.

Wait a few seconds and Notepad will pop up. Copy & Paste those results and place them in the next post along with the results of WinPFind!

OK, since you can get into Normal Mode now, do this in Normal Mode since Safe Mode is not needed here. Do the steps I mentioned in the order below (should straight forward and easy to follow :tazz: ):

Go to Start->Run and type in regedit and hit OK. Go to File->Export and save the registry somewhere as a backup. Close the Registry Editor now. Go to Start->Run and type in notepad and hit OK. Then copy and paste the following into Notepad:

REGEDIT4
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]
"KavSvc"=-
"pbrlhu"=-

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers]
"mxyxgmqx"=-

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]
"aqpvrf"=-

Save the file as "delete.reg". Make sure to save it with the quotes. Double click on it and choose Yes to merge it. You may delete the file afterwards.

Download KillBox http://www.greyknigh...spy/KillBox.exe. Run KillBox and check the box that says 'End Explorer Shell While Killing File'. Next click on 'Delete on Reboot'. Copy the below files and go back to KillBox. Go to File->Paste from Clipboard and then hit the button with a red circle and white X. Confirm to delete and when asked if you want to reboot, say no:

C:\WINDOWS\System32\isksr.dll
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\qbhllo.exe
C:\WINDOWS\jxgagoaxk.exe
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\drivers\etc\hosts.bak
c:\windows\system32\dmjagpd.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\hpapkh.exe

Upload this file (C:\WINDOWS\RMAgentOutput.dll) to http://virusscan.jotti.org and see what it says. Do the same for C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\XpBlock.dll

Restart and post a new HijackThis log along with the reports from the two files you scanned at Jotti. For the jotti report, just give me the top portion (the first table you see there). I don't need anything below that (the rest of the text and other things unrelated).

Zip up those two files you scanned with Jotti and save it somewhere (as a backup file just in case you need it). Then delete those two files (RMA... and XPblock..). If nothing goes wrong after a week or so, you may delete that backup zip file also.

OK, I want you to run these exactly as specified (Safe Mode fixing - see below):

Please download Ewido Security Suite at http://www.ewido.net/en/download/.

1. Install Ewido Security Suite.
2. When installing, under 'Additional Options' uncheck:
* Install background guard
* Install scan via context menu
3. Launch Ewido, there should be an icon on your desktop, double click it.
4. The program will now open to the main screen.
5. When you run Ewido for the first time, you will get a warning 'Database could not be found!'. Click OK. We will fix this in a moment.
6. You will need to update Ewido to the latest definition files.
* On the left hand side of the main screen click update.
* Then click on Start Update.
7. The update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed. The status bar at the bottom will display 'Update successful'.
8. Exit Ewido. DO NOT scan yet.

If you are having problems with the updater, you can go to http://www.ewido.net...wnload/updates/ to update manually.

CleanUp! deletes EVERYTHING out of your temp/temporary folders, it does not make backups. If you have any documents or programs that are saved in any Temporary Folders, please make a backup of these before running CleanUp!. Download CleanUp! http://cleanup.stevengould.org/ (Alternate Link if main link don't work - http://www.greyknigh...spy/CleanUp.exe ) and install it. Run CleanUp! and click on the Options button. Uncheck 'Scan local drives for temporary files'. Also uncheck those two Newsgroup entries if you don't want to delete them. Click OK and then click on the CleanUp! button. Let it run. After it's done, choose Yes to logoff.

Download Nailfix Utility at http://www.noidea.us...050711214630636 Save it to your desktop. Do NOT run it yet.

Download dsrfix.zip http://www.atribune....oads/dsrfix.zip and save it to your desktop. Unzip the dsrfix.zip contents to your desktop. This will create a new folder on your desktop named dsrfix. Do NOT open that folder yet.

Download APT http://www.diamondcs...ex.php?page=apt and unzip the contents to a new folder on your desktop.

* Open the folder you just created and click on apt.exe and search in the window for tgjecd.exe.
* Open your C:\Windows\system32 folder and search for tgjecd.exe. Don't delete it yet, just leave the system32 folder open so you can see the bad file.
* In APT again, Select tgjecd.exe and Click Kill3.
* Then immediately delete tgjecd.exe from your system32 folder.

Close APT.

Restart your computer and boot into Safe Mode by hitting the F8 key repeatedly until a menu shows up (and choose Safe Mode from the list). In some systems, this may be the F5 key, so try that if F8 doesn't work.

Once in Safe Mode, double click on nailfix.exe.
Click 'Next' in the setup, then make sure 'Run Nailfix' is checked and click 'Finish'.
Your desktop and icons will disappear and reappear, and a window should open and close very quickly --- this is normal.

Now open Ewido and do a scan on your system.

* Click on scanner
* Click on Complete System Scan and the scan will begin.
* NOTE: During some scans with Ewido it is finding cases of false positives.
o You will need to step through the process of cleaning files one-by-one.
o If Ewido detects a file you KNOW to be legitimate, select none as the action.
o Do NOT select 'Perform action on all infections'
o If you are unsure of any entry found, select none for now as the action.
* Once the scan has completed, there will be a button located on the bottom of the screen named Save report
* Click Save report.
* Save the report .txt file to your desktop or a location where you can find it easily.

Run a scan in HijackThis. Check each of the following and hit 'Fix checked' (after checking them) if they still exist (make sure not to miss any):

F2 - REG:system.ini: Shell=Explorer.exe C:\WINDOWS\Nail.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Dinst] C:\WINDOWS\dinst.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [mubwxa] c:\windows\system32\tgjecd.exe r
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [KavSvc] C:\WINDOWS\System32\hpapkh.exe reg_run
O23 - Service: System Startup Service (SvcProc) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\svcproc.exe

NOTE: The 04 entry may have changed names if you have rebooted since posting the log; look for an entry with a similar format, that will always end in a single letter r.

Now open the folder dsrfix on your desktop.
* Double click on dsrfix.bat
* A window will pop up briefly then close, this is normal.

Locate and delete the following:

c:\windows\system32\tgjecd.exe (or whatever the name may have changed to, as noted above).
C:\WINDOWS\Nail.exe
C:\WINDOWS\dinst.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\hpapkh.exe
C:\WINDOWS\svcproc.exe

Finally, restart your computer and post a new HijackThis log, as well as the report log from the Ewido scan.

I did everything!

Couple of things:
in hijack this there was no 04 dinst or 023 svcproc.exe to fix

as for locate and delete the following:
i found a C:/windows/prefetch with tgjecd.exe-3a24a72c.pf I deleted it cause it was just created and windows didnt know what it is
I couldnt find any of the other files, but i did extensive file searches, and made sure to search in hidden folders as well (not sure if i was suppose to but figured it couldnt hurt)--they arent there.

Here are the logs you want--Tahnks!

I think we're getting the better of it :tazz:

How's everything running so far? We still have one more entry to remove, but I want you to fix it and run WinPFind and Trackqoo again - just follow instructions shown below and we should be on our way.

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. You should 'not' have any open browsers when you are following the procedures below.

C:\WINDOWS\System32\hpapkh.exe

Run a scan in HijackThis. Check each of the following and hit 'Fix checked' (after checking them) if they still exist (make sure not to miss any):

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [KavSvc] C:\WINDOWS\System32\hpapkh.exe reg_run

Restart your computer and boot into Safe Mode by hitting the F8 key repeatedly until a menu shows up (and choose Safe Mode from the list). In some systems, this may be the F5 key, so try that if F8 doesn't work.

Double click WinPFind.exe

* Click 'Start Scan'

Also post a new HijackThis log.

here are the three reports! Thanks for all the hard work so far!!!

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. You should not have any open browsers when you are following the procedures below.

Go to Start->Run and type in regedit and hit OK. Go to File->Export and save the registry somewhere as a backup. While in the Registry Editor, navigate to:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\ and delete mxyxgmqx
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run and delete KavSvc

If any of the above registry keys are giving you problems deleting, right click on them and click on Permissions. Then click on the Advanced button. Make sure the first box (Inherit from parent...) is checked. Click OK and OK. Then try deleting the entry again. Once you're done, close the Registry Editor.

Confirm to delete and when asked if you want to reboot, say Yes:

C:\WINDOWS\mznza.dll
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\isksr.dll
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\nikienu.dll
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\riai.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\hpapkh.exe

Restart and post a new HijackThis log. Hopefully this will be the last of it.

That KavSvc likes to hide sometimes. I want you to go back in there and try finding it again. Or better yet, do a search for it in the registry (Edit->Find I think). If anything, try deleting it in Safe Mode.

Were you able to delete this file? -> C:\WINDOWS\System32\hpapkh.exe
Use KillBox if it's giving you problems. If it's gone already, then great.

If anything, just post back new logs for WinPFind and Trackqoo again (make sure to run WinPFind in Safe Mode and Trackqoo in Normal Mode).

alright---got the kavsvc when i searched!

used Killbox for the hpapkh, and got this message "Pending filename operations registry data has been removed by external process"--the comp never rebooted after that, so I guess it shouldnt when u get this message?

Here are the new logs!

WARNING: not all files found by this scanner are bad. Consult with a knowledgable person before proceeding.

If you see a message in the titlebar saying "Not responding..." you can ignore it. Windows somethimes displays this message due to the high volume of disk I/O. As long as the hard disk light is flashing, the program is still working properly.
