I just reformatted and reinstalled windows xp pro. Before formatting, I took all the programs and files I wanted backed up and copied them to my other hard drive (F before formatting). After reinstalling windows xp pro, I tried accessing the files I had copied and putting them back on the c drive (the backup drive was named D and checkdisk did something after a restart with the drive, but I don't know what), but for some reason they wouldn't work. Exe files don't run, mp3 files won't play, text files are garbled nonsense and pictures won't show up. Are all my files gone for good or is there a way to recover them? Help!
