First of all, open Spybot S&D, click Mode>Advanced>Tools>Resident and remove the check from the Tea Timer box. You can reinstate it later but we don't want it interfering with what we need to do. Reboot when done.

Click here to download Nailfix. Unzip it to the desktop but please do NOT run it yet.

Download Process Explorer from http://www.sysintern...ssExplorer.html

Run Process Explorer and find sthvpr.exe in the list of Processes.

Select the process and click Process > Suspend.

Then in HijackThis click Config > Misc Tools > Delete a file on reboot...
In the explorer Window select c:\windows\system32\sthvpr.exe
When prompted if you want to reboot click YES

Leave Process Explorer running with the process suspended through the reboot.

Have it reboot into Safe Mode by tapping F8 after the BIOS has loaded. Once in Safe Mode, please double-click on nailfix.exe. Click "Next" in the setup, then make sure "Run Nailfix" is checked and click "Finish". Your desktop and icons will disappear and reappear, and a window should open and close very quickly --- this is normal.

Reboot again when done, rescan with HJT and post a new log here for the next part.

Must have morphed when we got rid of teatimer. Click here to download Nailfix. Unzip it to the desktop but please do NOT run it yet.

Download Process Explorer from http://www.sysintern...ssExplorer.html

Run Process Explorer and find wggidl.exe in the list of Processes.

Select the process and click Process > Suspend.

Then in HijackThis click Config > Misc Tools > Delete a file on reboot...
In the explorer Window select c:\windows\system32\wggidl.exe
When prompted if you want to reboot click YES

Leave Process Explorer running with the process suspended through the reboot.

Have it reboot into Safe Mode by tapping F8 after the BIOS has loaded. Once in Safe Mode, please double-click on nailfix.exe. Click "Next" in the setup, then make sure "Run Nailfix" is checked and click "Finish". Your desktop and icons will disappear and reappear, and a window should open and close very quickly --- this is normal.

Reboot again when done, rescan with HJT and post a new log here for the next part.
