Hello. I have a problem, not sure how serious, but it is killing my computer. I have ran ad-aware, spybot search-destroy, Norton antivirus 2004, housecall, microsoft anti-spyware, registryclean, deleted all temporary files, nothing is helping. I have never seen a computer act like this. Every time I start it up it acts like its the first time it has ever booted. Windows XP tour comes up, internet settings are all reset, desktop is changed. When I open a program.. lets say windows media player.. i have to go through all the setup. Plus it says I only have windows MP5, when I have windows media player 10. It says my csrss.exe file is infected with a trojan, i deleted one of them through secuirty task manager.. haven't rebooted to see the result of that. Also, does anyone have a clue what pokapoka62.exe is? Can you please help!!

now close all windows and browsers and click FIX CHECKED

Then boot up in SAFE MODE

Then navigate to and delete these files\folders in BOLD

C:\WINDOWS\etb\pokapoka62.exe
C:\Program Files\Cas<----folder

then reboot and post a fresh Hijackthis log.

First I want to say thank you for all the help, I really appreciate it. I have a few other questions I was hoping you could help me with as well. I'm currently running sygate personnel firewall, and when I start up I keep getting the message NDIS User Mode I/o (ndisuio.sys) has been blocked. Do you have any clue what this is... and should I continue to block it.. or allow it to access the network? Also, when I start up I alway get the found new hardware VIA Bus Master IDE Drivers, but it wont accept any drivers, so I go through the same process everytime I boot, do you know how to fix that? Finally, when I go to microsoft update page, I go to custom, and it says searching for available updates.. and it just searches for like 20 minutes, never comes back with anything.. I eventually just close the page while the bars keep going across the screen simulating microsoft searching for updates.. do you know how to fix this? With that said, I followed the steps you generously gave me in the previous post... and here is my new Hijackthis post:

NDIS User Mode is harmless, allow it access through the firewall.

as to windows updates, make sure that GENERIC HOST has access to the internet through your firewall.

I think you would be better posting a question in the XP,2000 forum about the VIA Bus Master IDE Drivers, problem.

now close all windows and browsers and click FIX CHECKED

Go to TOOLS\INTERNET OPTIONS. and delete all TEMP INTERNET FILES

Download CCLEANER

then run the scan under the windows tab.

then DEFRAG your C:\ drive.

to help speed up your system.

then let us know how the computer is running.
