Norton anti-virus recently picked up the jaaste.dll trojan horse on my computer. Shortly thereafter it identified KB290333.dll as a trojan horse also. Norton wouldn't fix or delete it and I was unable to delete it manually. I went through Symantec's recommended steps to remove trojan horses which included (1) disabling the system restore, (2) updated my virus definitions, (3) restated the computer in same mode, (4) scanned and deleted the files that i could, (5) went through my registry, etc. I attempted to locate them in the registry so I could delete them but I was unable to find them.
A friend suggested I rename them and then try deleting them. As such, they are now at C:\windows\jerk (formally jaaste.dll) and C:\windows\jerk2 (formally KB290333.dll) (I renamed them while in safe mode but have not been able to change it since). Although able to rename them I still couldn't delete them.
So far I haven't noticed any problems with the computer. Norton pops up a warning every 5 seconds which I have to admit is really annoying.
I've gone through all of your required prep steps but they are still there. My hijack this log is copied below (hopefully I did it right). I'm at my wits end!
