I did a search of old posts and still don't know what to do.

I need a sound driver, i know that much. but I don't know how to get it.

I have a Compaq Presario 6340 running windows xp pro. I don't know much else about my system. Someone please help?

There are no drivers available for this system on Compaq's (hp.com) website. The Windows drivers are the only ones available. Why do you think you need a new driver?

Ok, well it might help if I give you the correct model number it's a 6404.

I thought it was the sound driver because, long story short, I had to wipe my hard drive this summer and I had to redownload the driver then. (unfortunatly I don't remember how) Then I had to wipe it again later, again, long story, and the speakers stopped working again.

When in go into Control Panel, it says I don't have an audio device.
