Hi one and all.
For many years I've been concerned about the mutiplication of dll files.
From time to time I've gotten a dulpicate file finder but always get too scared to delete any.
Is there a way of discarding this flab that I'm sure slows the workings down?
I'm sure I'm not alone in this plight.

No instability in system but the five seconds to load up Google via Mozilla etc is different than the nigh zero seconds it used to take. Just trying a bit of cleaning but safety is the better option.

Mozilla or Firefox? Both will take some time to load. I know because I use Firefox myself. It takes me about the same amount of time, but oh well, small price to pay for free tabbed browsing!!! Yah!!!!

Sure thing about the advantages of Firefox ( powered by Mozilla) versus the loadup time.
Thanks for letting me know that is the reason for slowness. Certainly no drama. and hey, what's five seconds in a life time....???.... :-)

Hi again. I ahve done a duplicate file finder in just my Windows folder and have "296.43 Mbytes wasted space".
Actually everything is slow, though I've done the registry cleaner and CrapCleaner.
Any thoughts on the attached?

If you want to speed up your computer, add some more memory. Update to SP2 for more security features.

these are language files for and are not really duplicates...the german file dups to every other language, then the english dups to ever other language,,,,not sure what program you are using to determine duplicates, but I would consider it a false positive

these are your driver backups--windows keeps a copy in case the primary is corrupted and it can be replaced NEVER DELETE THESE

these are windows updates...the eula is a text file and "could be deleted" BUT sometimes the EULA must exist to remove/uninstall programs. You may want to uninstall a windows update for some reason (instability with another update), so leave these alone

critical windows file and normal--I believe that MS did this in the odd case where your path is corrupted. On boot, windows checks c:\windows\system32 first, then c:\windows and down the path statement.

If the file were lost in system32, windows would not start...with the dup in c:\windows, windows can start and replace the file.

The 'duplicate finder' was a basic 'what it sees, it says".
The pics are a sampling of the pages and pages of listings.

You may try out Duplicate Files Deleter. Its ideal for this type of problem.
