dsl/network problem

have verizon dsl modem is westell 2200 and trying to setup wireless network with linksys wrt54g. the modem is set to bridge as per instructions and the router is set up as pppoe. everything can see everything else. but I cannot access webpages. can ping, but when ping the router get a very low number? anyone ??? help is greatly appreciated.
