I'm formatting my step-fathers computer and I'm having an issue. When windows XP is installing, it's going along fine, then all of a sudden I get an error message saying this...

The file 'asms' on windows XP Professional is needed. Type the path where the file is located, and then click OK.

Copy files from E:\I386

Now, I've tried looking on the CD with my computer and I can't find the file either. I went to the windows site http://support.micro...b;EN-US;Q311755 and have had no luck with that, because it's formatted NTFS, but the registry key it's asking for doesn't exist when I create the new load hive. Any help on the matter is much appreciated.

They look to be with SP2, perhaps getting the SP2 CD would help, if it sticks at some point, make sure the CD is spotless, and cancel the installation which can make it restart and install OK
