I started a thread here
http://www.geekstogo...log-t50957.html
which needs to be locked/deleted, I was sadly mistaken. :tazz: I hope I haven't violated protocol but, I did not want to be overlooked by someone thinking I didn't really need help.

After a new d/l of Defender Pro Anti Spyware, it apparently "unlocked" some nasties that were hiding, even in safe mode. Some I could handle, some, not so much.

CWS.Msconfig, may or may not be gone. I struggled for hours last night but it *seems* to be gone. CWshredder has returned as clean for a few scans both in safe mode and normal. My Microsoft Anti Spyware keeps allowing a change upon rebooting from safe mode at C\Windows\pchealth\helpctr\binaries\msconfig.exe.
I don't know if that is ok or not. I boot into safe mode via msconfig, bootini, so this may be a response to that, but..... There is a file in that folder called msinfo.dll that does not show a comapny name or product name in properties, every other file shows Microsoft as a Company name and a program name. That concerns me.

Can't get the Zazzer to budge, I have a SS of all of it's locations found via AdAware. Will go "registry diving", with aid, of course, if necessary to remove it.

Spysubtract keeps finding something called Effective i-Inc, it deletes it but it returns. It could somehow be tied into my browser, Maxthon. One of my A/S programs was hitting on Maxthon, misidentifying it as UcMore. This Effective i-Inc is tied to UcMore somehow. Or, I may have UcMore malware.

Lastly, McAfee A/S keeps hitting on two items. SbSoft.dr and SystemSave.dr. They keep coming back too. I *think* these may be part of my Defender Pro Anti Popup but, they may be tied into that Zazzer as it is tied into some freeware pop up killer in addition to Kazaa (which I don't have, I don't share music anywhere, don't d/l random software of any kind really. If it's not listed on one of the Tech boards, I don't d/l.)

That being said. I apologize for being so long spoken, just trying to provide background. I am updated on all Windows updates. All my AntiSpyware and AntiVirus software are updated. Restore is off, awaiting your instruction. ;) TIA

Download rkfiles.zip and unzip it to its own permanent folder.

Important! Reboot in SAFE MODE !!

Start in Safe Mode Using the F8 method:* Restart the computer in Safe Mode.
* As soon as BIOS is loaded begin tapping the F8 key until the Advanced Options menu appears.
* Use the arrow keys to select the Safe Mode menu item.
* Press the Enter key.
Locate the rkfiles.bat file and double-click it to run it. It will start scanning your computer and could take a little while so be patient. When the DOS window closes, reboot back to normal mode.

Post the contents of C:\log.txt back here and I will review it when it comes in.

If this looks like it is going to be a huge, difficult ordeal, I am not above reformatting. If that is your recommendation, it won't hurt my feelings in the least. Sometimes starting with a clean slate is a good thing. :tazz:

Click Here to download TheKillbox. Extract TheKillBox.exe from the zip file and double click it to open it up. In the 'Enter Full Path and Filename to Delete' box, copy and paste these entries one by one, clicking 'Find and Kill This File' after each one:

C:\WINDOWS\RMAgentOutput.dll

Click 'Exit' when done.

Note: If you receive a message such as: "Component 'MsComCtl.ocx' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid." when trying to run TheKillbox, download and run: http://www.javacools...ngfilesetup.exe. Then try TheKillbox again.

Next please do the following:

I need you to download MWav to a convenient location.

This scan might take around 3+ hours to finish when set to scan everything.
I need you to run MWav by double-clicking on mwav.exe.
Put a check next to the below items before scanning:
  • Memory
  • Startup Folders
  • Drive - All Local Drives
  • Folder - then click "browse" to change the directory to C: (default is C:\Windows)
  • Registry
  • System Folders
  • Services
  • Include Sub-Directory
  • Scan All Files
Please make sure ALL of these are checked, then press the Scan button. This typically will take hours to complete.

**NOTE*** Sometimes MWav will pause and it appears to be finished, but it isn't done. Just let it run until it says it's complete.

On the bottom portion of the window, you will see the lower panel where MWav is listing "infected items". When it's done scanning, please highlight everything in that lower panel and copy them by holding CTRL + C then paste it here. The whole log will be extremely BIG so there is no way to post the log. I just need the infected items list.

Ok, 2 questions,

On the killbox, I dont have the "find and kill this file" verbatim option. I have "standard file kill", is that what I use? There are 4 more options plus another that is unavailable.

On the Mwav, is that to be run in "regular" mode or safe mode?

As soon as I get clarification, I will run both programs.

Ok ran Killbox and selected Delete upon reboot, it prompted me to reboot\, which I did, hope that was ok.

The MWav scan came back with this result, plus 268 errors.

Download and run iSearchFix.exe
  • Allow it to install to its default location.
  • Reboot to safe mode. You can do this by restarting your computer and continually tapping the F8 key until a menu appears. Use your up arrow to highlight Safe Mode, then hit enter.
  • Open the iSearchFix folder and run isearch.bat
  • Allow it to finish running then reboot into normal mode and post the isearchlog.txt

Hi, well that it seems you have, go figure
OK, please boot to safe mode and run CWShredder, While you do that, I am going to ask one of our fellow experts to look in on this for suggestions, as I am not seeing what is causing the current issues you are having. Or it could just be my eyes trying to tell me something.

Also could you please run Ewido in safe mode and then post it's log in your next reply.

Ok, on a different computer.... while the Edwido is scanning, I have ran a few other scans.....Mcafee still returns the SbSoft.dr and SystemSave.dr

Something "ate" my Spysubtract, I reinstalled it and it has found two registry entries so far but isn't done.

CWShredder came back clean, WTH? :tazz:

My "new" DefenderPro A/S has returned with 4 new infections. I have the locations. The names are:
MP3 Movie and Dvd Software Ebook
About_Blank
Adware.TMKSoftXPlugin
Unclassified.Spyware

I have not tried to remove any of these items, I will wait for your command on what to do. I must have a Trojan or something letting all this stuff in. My A/V (Defender Pro) does not work in safe mode for some reason. The day you first replied to my posr, my "old" Defender Pro A/S found something called Brutus and I don't know if it is still there or not.

So, do I try to fix all these other issues, run the rest of my scans (still have old DP, Adaware, Spybot and Microsoft A/S to go) or does all this info just muddy up your work?

Ok, I keep locking up in safe mode, will post an Edwdido log in the a.m.

A House Call scan found and *cleaned* a TROJ_SMALL.AFG seems it did this right before I initially posted here, I doubt it is really gone.
