my pc has been infected with the spysheriff thing. not even sure that it's a virus or spyware or what?

anyways, i've read the other posts about it here and followed each of the instructions as to how to clean it.
none of it worked for me.

i've resorted to trying to format the drive. unfortunately, the infection has taken over administrator rights and i cannot even format it - even in dos!

i am at my wits end with this thing and don't know what to do at this point.
i may just simply remove the infected drive and reinstall a new one.

does this make any sense?

thanks for any help or advise!

you don't need to do anything that drastic. :tazz:

We'll need you to use a free diagnostic tool, Hijack This. Follow the instructions in step five of this guide, and post your log back in this thread.

Most of what Hijack This lists lists will be harmless or even essential, DO NOT delete or modify anything yet! Someone will be along to tell you what steps to take after you post the contents of the scan results.
