i am having a realy hard time trying to install windows self extractor files on my pc.

i get the error message

Command line syntax error. Type command /? for help.

files from windows, files like windows media player 10 nd msn messenger 7

Are you using SP2?? If not, get the latest Installer program from the Microsoft website!!

Yes, I am using service pack 2, i am on dial-up so i have not updated every file there is for my pc beacause it takes too long, should I download every update?

SP2 should have the new installer already on it but, you should be installing all Critical Updates as a matter of course..

Check the Updates website and see if the Installer is listed as a Recommended or critical update..
