Everytine I startup I get the following message box:

wuauclt.exe
wuauclt.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconveniece.

There is additional text after that in the box but the above is the main jist.

Can anyone help me with this annoyance.

Note, I have installed AdAware and run it numerous times and rebooted each time. It took care of most other issues I had, but not this one.

Thank you very much in advance for your help!!!

wuauclt.exe is associated with Windows automatic updates.

You say you have run Ad-aware several times. Does this mean you have/had malware on your computer?

Some malware can disable/corrupt the windows update engine. It might be you still have some malware going on. Please go HERE and follow the instructions, then post in the Malware forum if the problem persists.

I could easily have also told you to just disable Automatic Updates, but that wouldn't be wise. Better to make sure you have a clean machine first.

Are you sending the error reports to microsoft?

If not give that a try as well, cause if the internet explorer opens then microsoft might be a patch for the problem that you are having with your computer?

Also just keep sending it to microsoft.

I have not had Malware on my machine.

I have disabled autoupdate, knowing it is associated with the file and then installed SP2. This did not affect the error.

I have sent the reports to MS.

Try doing this...

Go to Start/run... type in chkdsk /f Windows may grumble and offer to run at next Startup... click ok, and restart your computer.
