Hi Gkyle,
Is everything okay now?
Your Hijackthis log looks clean!

You can uninstall Ewido Security Suite when it expires since you already have Norton Internet Security. If you prefer Norton just keep it updated.

To help protect your computer in the future I recommend the following free programs:
SpywareBlaster to help prevent spyware from installing in the first place.
SpywareGuard to catch and block spyware before it can execute.

It is very important to make sure that both Internet Explorer and Windows are kept current with the latest critical security patches from Microsoft.
To do this just start Internet Explorer and select Tools > Windows Update, and follow the online instructions from there.

Regularly running your AdAware and Spybot and make sure you check for updates and download updates before scanning.
AdAware
Spybot Search & Destroy

And also see TonyKlein's good advice
So how did I get infected in the first place?
and Spyware Aid's spyware article:
Spyware, Adware, Malware:

I am no longer getting pop ups, however my system is still running very slowly...

If you think your pc should run faster than it should be, then maybe you can try some things to optimize it:

First try downloading and running CleanUp
Now run the CleanUp program:

*IMPORTANT NOTE*
CleanUp deletes EVERYTHING out of your temp/temporary folders, it does not make backups.
If you have any documents or programs that are saved in any Temporary Folders, please make a backup of these before running CleanUp

Running CleanUp
  • Start CleanUp by double-clicking the icon on your desktop (or from the Start > All Programs menu).
  • When CleanUp starts go to the Options button (right side of CleanUp screen)
  • Move the arrow down to "Custom CleanUp!"
  • Now place a checkmark next to the following (Make sure nothing else is checked!):
    [list]
  • Delete Cookies
This is optional, if you leave the box checked it will remove all of your cookies, at this point removing cookies is a good idea
  • Empty Recycle Bins
  • Delete Prefetch files
  • Cleanup! All Users
[*]Click OK
[*]Then click on the CleanUp button. This will take a short while, let it do its thing.
[*]When asked to reboot system select No
[*]Close CleanUp

After that reboot and Defragment Your Hard Drive
Windows XP comes with "Disk Defragmenter", a lite version of Diskeeper. File system performance is maximized when files are contiguous on the disk. This means that all of the data in each file would be located consecutively on the Hard Drive. Instead of fragmented into separate parts all over the disk surface, causing the Hard Drive to work harder (slower) to read and write your files. There are no Free Defragmenters that do a better job, in which case you have to purchase a Commercial Defragmenter such as Diskeeper. (I bought one myself)
Go Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Disk Defragmenter, select your local drive and defragment selected drive.

2. Disable the programs that runs at startup so those programs only runs when you need them.
Common commercial software like Quicken, Microsoft Office, and others load their own background applications that eat up system memory and monopolize the processor. They are resource hog. Don't run too many programs if your ram is not that much (reboot after hours of running)
You can disable as many programs as you like not to run at startup. In my pc with 512mb ram, the only programs I have running at startup is my Antivirus and my Zone Alarm, the rest of the programs I manually run as I need them.

Example of programs you can disable at startup:
O4 - Global Startup: Quicken Scheduled Updates.lnk = C:\Program Files\Quicken\bagent.exe
O4 - Global Startup: Billminder.lnk = C:\Program Files\Quicken\billmind.exe
O4 - Global Startup: Quicken Startup.lnk = C:\Program Files\Quicken\QWDLLS.EXE
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [UserFaultCheck] %systemroot%\system32\dumprep 0 -u
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Yahoo! Pager] "C:\Program Files\Yahoo!\Messenger\ypager.exe" -quiet
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [MSMSGS] "C:\Program Files\Messenger\msmsgs.exe" /background

3. Disable Indexing Service (I disabled mine and I never notice the time difference when I search files)
The Indexing Service in Windows XP indexes your files presumably to shorten the time needed to search your hard drive if you are looking for a specific file or part of a phrase inside a file. However, the constant indexing of files actually slows down system performance. Indexing searching performance benefits would only be noticeable on a file server not a home PC.

Maybe if you ask At GeeksToGo XP forum they will be able to offer you better advice about optimizing your system. They have a topic "Easy XP Tweaks" that might interest you.
