OK,we still have a little more work to do!

Some of these files I have no way to tell if they are legit or any good at all!

So you will need to investigate the ones I ask about and use the 2 scanning sites to Scan them!

Copy the text in the Code box to a blank notepad page-> Save it to the desktop as Clr.reg

Dont use it yet!

REGEDIT4

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]
"WAPI"=-

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Shell Extensions\Approved\{9F19C871-9747-4C00-8123-57C44E2435C2}]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Shell Extensions\Approved]
"{9F19C871-9747-4C00-8123-57C44E2435C2}"=-

Please check each of these out as they all look fishy if not down right nasty!

Get them scanned at the 2 sites I listed earlier and then look and see if you can figure out why they are on the PC,if you get nasty results at the scan sites or cant associate them with something on the PC,Include them with the files to be deleted by Killbox!

C:\WINDOWS\AKDeInstall.exe

C:\Program Files\mcafee_20041201.exe

C:\Program Files\SpeedUp.exe

Restart in Safe Mode,Delete each entry below with Killbox!

C:\WINDOWS\System32\wtsit.exe
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\msasf.exe.tcf
C:\WINDOWS\system32\oybccr32.dll

Remember to Include any of the other files with this list!

Now locate Clr.reg and Double Click to execute, allow it to merge into the Registry!

Now locate the l2mfix-> Run Options 1-> 2-> and 4

Save the log from Option 4!

Run WinPFind again while in Safe Mode!

Still in Safe Mode and Windows Showing Hidden Files and Folders!

Delete files/folder from the following directories (But not the directory itself, for example delete all files/folder IN temp; but not temp itself!)

C:\Temp

C:\Windows\Temp

C:\Windows\System32\Temp

C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Local Settings\Temp

C:\Documents and Settings\<Your Profile>\Local Settings\Temp

C:\Documents and Settings\<All other users Profile>\Local Settings\Temp

Empty your "Recycle Bin"

Open Internet Explorer,
Select Tools,
Select Internet Options
Select Delete Cookies and Delete Files(Check the box for Delete all offline content)

Go to Start,
Select All Programs
Select Accessories
Select System Tools
Select and Run Disk Cleanup(Make sure that all boxes are checked for cleaning!!)

Restart Normal and post the results from WinPFind and Option 4 of the l2mfix!

Lets see if we got it all!

After that, run this last Online Scan and see what it turns up

OK,I had to ask a friend to be sure but there is an entry in HijackThis which indicates that Option 2 of the l2mfix has not properly run yet!

So lets be Safe!

Make sure all Windows and Browsers are Closed-> Run Option 2 of the l2mfix and post those results!

You may have a corrupt Installation of the l2mfix but I have no way to tell!

Please be sure that nothing else is running before you run the l2mfix again!

OK,lets get the second step down first!

Do Not Click Scond.bat this time!

Close any programs you have open since this step requires a reboot.

From the l2mfix folder on your desktop, double click l2mfix.bat and select option #2 for Run Fix by typing 2 and then pressing enter, then press any key to reboot your computer.

After a reboot, your desktop and icons will appear, then disappear (this is normal). L2mfix will continue to scan your computer and when it's finished, notepad will open with a log.

Copy the contents of that log and paste it back into this thread, along with a new hijackthis log.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run any other files in the l2mfix folder until you are asked to do so!

OK,Uninstall that Version of the l2mfix!

Redownload another from here
http://www.atribune....oads/l2mfix.exe

Once Downloaded-> double click l2mfix.exe-> Click the Install button to extract the files and follow the prompts!

Now open the new l2mfix folder on your desktop and Double Click l2mfix.bat

Press any key to continue when prompted!

Now Type in the number 2 and hit enter!

Now press any key to reboot your computer!

Your desktop and icons will appear, then disappear (this is normal).

L2mfix will continue to scan your computer and when it's finished, notepad will open with a log!

Post the contents of that log!

DO NOT Run or click Second.bat or any other file in the l2mfix folder!

Rarely does a log get solved completly in one day!

But I have never seen the l2mfix do this!

Do you know if Spybots Tea Timer is running or do you have any other programs running that may have a real time system monitor?

Anything that may prevent changes to the registry!

OK,lets try this!

Fix this with HijackThis

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [second] C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator.YOUR-O0KWKW9JWC\Desktop\l2mfix\second.bat

Restart in Safe Mode!

Run the l2mfix twice!

First select Option 2 and save that log!

Next Select Option 4 and save that log!

Restart and post!

Lets see what happens!

as far as I know there are no realtime deals running, so I am still having a little trouble understanding exactly why my system is being so stubborn...

and, windows updates are still failing...on google one search turned up a result, that it can sometimes happen if you download the files improperly..is there a way to clear out the files that it downloaded so that I could try to redownload them...

So Option 2 still wont run?

Try Googling-> How to Uninstall and Reinstall Windows Updates

I am going to have to contact the author of the l2mfix and see what I can find out!

I tried all the steps microsoft recommended to fix the issue..and none worked...weird thing is, I updated windows a couple weeks ago just fine...but now, it fails on every update...

and, of course, l2mfix won't run option 2 properly...something is amiss...I would hate to have to do a system restore (as I have an extensive amount of data I would have to backup before attempting to do such...to be on the safe side) but, at this point, it may be the only option...unless you can think of something different...

No System Restore!

We will figure this out, just be very careful about surfing the Internet until this issue is resolved!

Lets try this-> go to the l2mfix folder, right click on second.bat and choose open!

See if the process will complete now!
