I am attempting to "save" the computer that my parents and sister use( I got my own for Christmas and thought I'd be done with this one, but I guess not.)

I've run every malware detection I've been able to use. I've used Spybot, Ad-Aware, Spyware Doctor, and Microsoft Antispyware. I haven't been able to get rid of this pest. Norton continues to detect files that it identifies as Adware.Look2Me. I delete these files as they are detected, but I know better than to think that would be enough to solve the problem. I have also run the VX2 Cleaner exstention for Ad-Aware, but it comes up empty.

I am, like many others apparently are, being bombarded with the WinFix pop-up. I have reviewed the other topics regarding WinFix, and ran a HijackThis scan and a l2mfix scan(I did NOT do anything beyond the Run Find Log option in the command prompt.) Here are the logs:

I have tried to follow the instructions posted in other topics, but they seem very specific to each system, so I would rather not risk causing damage to this computer.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi and welcome to GeeksToGo! My name is Excal and I will be helping you.

I can see that you have some malware issues. This maybe a few step process in removing it. I encourage you to stick with it and follow my directions as closely as possible so as to avoid complicating the problem further.

Close any programs you have open since this step requires a reboot.
  • From the l2mfix folder on your desktop, double click l2mfix.bat and select option #2 for Run Fix by typing 2 and then pressing enter
  • Press any key to reboot your computer.
  • After a reboot, your desktop and icons will appear, then disappear (this is normal). L2mfix will continue to scan your computer and when it's finished, notepad will open with a log.
  • Copy the contents of log and paste it back into this thread, along with a new hijackthis log, and we'll clean up what's left. :tazz:
IMPORTANT: Do NOT run any other files in the l2mfix folder unless you are asked to do so!

Everything looks pretty good!

While TeaTimer is an excellent tool for the prevention of spyware, it can sometimes prevent HijackThis from fixing certain things.
Please disable TeaTimer for now until you are clean. TeaTimer can be re-activated once your HijackThis log is clean.
  • Open Spybot Search & Destroy.
  • In the Mode menu click "Advanced mode" if not already selected.
  • Choose "Yes" at the Warning prompt.
  • Expand the "Tools" menu.
  • Click "Resident".
  • Uncheck the "Resident "TeaTimer" (Protection of overall system settings) active." box.
  • In the File menu click "Exit" to exit Spybot Search & Destroy
Close all browsers, windows and unneeded programs.

Open HiJack and do a scan.

Put a Check next to the following items:

R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing
O20 - Winlogon Notify: App Management - C:\WINDOWS\system32\fp4803hue.dll (file missing)
O20 - Winlogon Notify: Setup - C:\WINDOWS\system32\j60slgd7160.dll

click the Fix Checked box

Reboot, then please post a fresh HiJackthis log
