Yeah, I seem to have to same problem that a few others that browse around here have. I've tried what I can, but a little help is required to get rid of this really, really annoying hijacker.

And what is tnai.exe? I can't seem to find that, and Google only comes up with one page.

Here's my Hijack This log.

Hi scuba steve
My name is Andy and I will be helping you with your log.

You have the latest version of VX2. Download L2mfix from one of these two locations:

http://www.atribune....oads/l2mfix.exe
http://www.downloads....org/l2mfix.exe

Save the file to your desktop and double click l2mfix.exe. Click the Install button to extract the files and follow the prompts, then open the newly added l2mfix folder on your desktop. Double click l2mfix.bat and select option #1 for Run Find Log by typing 1 and then pressing enter. This will scan your computer and it may appear nothing is happening, then, after a minute or 2, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it into this thread.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run option #2 OR any other files in the l2mfix folder until you are asked to do so!

Hi scuba steve
please follow the instructions below.

Close any programs you have open since this step requires a reboot.

From the l2mfix folder on your desktop, double click l2mfix.bat and select option #2 for Run Fix by typing 2 and then pressing enter, then press any key to reboot your computer. After a reboot, your desktop and icons will appear, then disappear (this is normal). L2mfix will continue to scan your computer and when it's finished, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it back into this thread, along with a new hijackthis log, and we'll clean up what's left. ;)

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run any other files in the l2mfix folder unless you are asked to do so!

Hi scuba steve
Here's what we need to do next.

Please follow the instructions provided, you may want to print out these instructions and use them as a reference.

Please download ewido security suite it is a free version of the program.
  • Install ewido security suite
  • When installing, under "Additional Options" uncheck..
    • Install background guard
    • Install scan via context menu
  • Launch ewido, there should be an icon on your desktop, double-click it.
  • The program will now open to the main screen.
  • When you run ewido for the first time, you will get a warning "Database could not be found!". Click OK. We will fix this in a moment.
  • You will need to update ewido to the latest definition files.
    • On the left hand side of the main screen click update.
    • Then click on Start Update.
  • The update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed.
(the status bar at the bottom will display ("Update successful")
If you are having problems with the updater, you can use this link to manually update ewido.
ewido manual updates

Restart your computer and as soon as it starts booting up again continuously tap F8. A menu should come up where you will be given the option to enter Safe Mode.

Please reopen Ewido:
  • Click on scanner
  • Click on Complete System Scan and the scan will begin.
  • You will be prompted to clean the first infection.
  • Select "Perform action on all infections", then proceed.
  • Once the scan has completed, there will be a button located on the bottom of the screen named Save report
  • Click Save report.
  • Save the report .txt file to your desktop or a location where you can find it easily.
Close ewido security suite.

Please re-open HiJackThis and scan. Check the boxes next to all the entries listed below.

R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing
O2 - BHO: SDWin32 Class - {A028E4CC-09D5-4AB8-8FE1-344AAC24CE8F} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\qqxbz.dll (file missing)
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [KavSvc] C:\WINDOWS\system32\mrapup.exe reg_run
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Ubz] C:\WINDOWS\system32\W?nSxS\nopdb.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [capspp] C:\WINDOWS\system32\capspp.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\RunOnce: [capspp] C:\WINDOWS\system32\capspp.exe
O6 - HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Restrictions present
O23 - Service: Command Service (cmdService) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\QWRtaW5pc3RyYXRvcgAA\command.exe (file missing)

Now close all windows other than HiJackThis, then click Fix Checked.

Please delete these folders using Windows Explorer(if present):

C:\WINDOWS\system32\W?nSxS
C:\WINDOWS\QWRtaW5pc3RyYXRvcgAA

Please delete these files using Windows Explorer(if present):
Use windows search facility if you have trouble finding these files.

C:\WINDOWS\system32\mrapup.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\capspp.exe

After that, Reboot.-

If you would please, rescan with HijackThis and post a fresh log with the Ewido log in this same topic, and let us know how your system's working. ;)

Everything is running a bit faster, at least on the startup and bandwidth side.

I'm also having a problem with Windows trying to repair Norton AntiVirus 2005 every time I boot up. I'm not even sure why Windows is trying to repair it, because Norton runs perfectly fine.

Edit: I'm still getting occasional popups, unless your site is ad-supported.

Here's my log:

Hi scuba steve

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order in which they are mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes.

Please Download the following tools to assist us in removing the 'qoolgic' infection!
  • Download WinPFind
    • Right Click the Zip Folder and Select "Extract All"
    • Extract it somewhere you will remember like the Desktop
    • Dont do anything with it yet!
  • Download Track qoo
    • Save it somewhere you will remember like the Desktop
Reboot into Safe Mode
Restart your computer and as soon as it starts booting up again continuously tap F8. A menu should come up where you will be given the option to enter Safe Mode.

Doubleclick WinPFind.exe
  • Click "Start Scan"
  • It will scan the entire System, so please be patient!
  • Once the Scan is Complete
  • Go to the WinPFind folder
  • Locate WinPFind.txt
  • Place those results in the next post!
Reboot back to Normal Mode!

Double Click on "Track qoo.vbs"

Note - If you Antivirus has Script Blocking, you will get a Pop Up Windows asking you what to do. Allow this Entire Script to Run, its harmless!

Wait a few seconds and a notepad page will pop up, Copy & Paste those results and place them in the next post along with the results of WinPFind!

Hi scuba steve

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order in which they are mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes.

Download Pocket KillBox from here. There is a Direct Download and a description of what the Program does inside this link.

Please open Notepad, and copy/paste the code in the box below into a new text file. Save it as KillQoo.reg (set Filetype to "All Files") and save it on your Desktop.

REGEDIT4

[-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\qfyxkxxf]

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\policies\Explorer\Run]
"capspp"=-

Open Pocket Killbox and Copy & Paste the entries below into the "Full Path of File to Delete"

C:\WINDOWS\kjnzv.dll
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\urkicii.dll
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\tnai.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\capspp.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\mrapup.exe
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\Pop2.exe

As you Paste each entry into Killbox, place a tick by any of these Selections available

"Delete on Reboot"
"Unregister .dll before Deleting"

Click the Red Circle with the White X in the Middle to Delete!

Restart in Safe Mode and Run those files through Killbox once more to be sure nothing survived.

This time place a tick by any of these selections available

"Standard File Kill"
"End Explorer Shell while Killing File"
"Unregister .dll before Deleting"

Now Locate and DoubleClick KillQoo.reg-> Allow it to merge into the Registry!

Please re-open HiJackThis and scan. Check the boxes next to all the entries listed below.

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [KavSvc] C:\WINDOWS\system32\mrapup.exe reg_run

Now close all windows other than HiJackThis, then click Fix Checked.

Next, click Start > Run > and type in:

services.msc

Click OK.

In the services window find

Command Service

Rightclick and choose "Properties". On the "General" tab under "Service Status" click the "Stop" button to stop the service. Beside "Startup Type" in the dropdown menu select "Disabled". Click Apply then OK. File-Exit the Services utility.

Note: You may get an error here when trying to access the properties of the service. If you do get an error, just select the service and look there in the top left of the main service window and click "Stop" to stop the service. If that gives an error or it is already stopped, just skip this step and proceed with the rest.

Please run a free online virus scan here:
http://www.pandasoft...activescan/com/

Please post the results from the scan and a fresh Hijack this klog

Hi steve

First job is to find and delete this folder

C:\WINDOWS\QWRtaW5pc3RyYXRvcgAA

Unfortunately it looks like the qoologic infection has returned, and we need to run through the fix again.

Reboot into Safe Mode
Restart your computer and as soon as it starts booting up again continuously tap F8. A menu should come up where you will be given the option to enter Safe Mode.

Doubleclick WinPFind.exe

* Click "Start Scan"
* It will scan the entire System, so please be patient!
* Once the Scan is Complete
1. Go to the WinPFind folder
2. Locate WinPFind.txt
3. Place those results in the next post!

Reboot back to Normal Mode!

Double Click on "Track qoo.vbs"

Note - If your Antivirus has Script Blocking, you will get a Pop Up Windows asking you what to do. Allow this Entire Script to Run, its harmless!

Wait a few seconds and a notepad page will pop up, Copy & Paste those results and place them in the next post along with the results of WinPFind!
