<_< Windows 98 - Gateway Solo Laptop

I have a Gateway Laptop Solo - and whenever I try to insert a disk it does not respond at all! When I go to Run: D:\ it states "This Device is not ready"

Now I have gone to Device Manager and it says the Device is working properly...??

Help. What other steps can I take?
FYI: The CD Drive is Internal...that is, there is no release drive option unless I open the Laptop Body.

Thanks!

If it appears in the task manager, and it appears to be working properly, chances are your drive has failed. <_<
