hey i have another hdd that is bootable...but now it says
activating swap partition --) failed
Checking Filesystem --) no home directory

and fails to boot to login screen
all it goes to is enter root passwod for maintenance or Cntrl + D to startup normally

the thing is i get hdd from a computer stre that cannot do anything with them, so i get for cheap price: and they are decent sized ones at that :tazz:

so i dont know root pass, or anything

so anyway i found out that u can "hack" in so i tried this method

it starts up using GRUB clarkconnect and press e and go to kernel and press e again so i can access the kernelboot command and i add init=/bin/bash at the end of the string

and it boots normally and i get logged in automatically as

init-2.05a#

so i press su to login as su (but i dont know passwrd) and i get in (dont know how)
but it says

bash: no job control in this shell
any way so im root know, but icnat change the passwrd
it says(and im root at this point)
Authentication Token Manipulation Error

i could also access the sh level and anyway looking in this sections
i pressed up to see previously typed commands nad i found that the OS had 2 other users

i cant add users, bc no command is found

so basically my questions is

why is this
activating swap partition --) failed
and why is this
Checking Filesystem --) no home directory, failed

and wondering what how to change root pass i dont know so once ppl help with 2 previous probs, i can get in the OS

any suggestions hints would be appreciated
