While TeaTimer is an excellent tool for the prevention of spyware, it can sometimes prevent HijackThis from fixing certain things.
Please disable TeaTimer for now until you are clean. TeaTimer can be re-activated once your HijackThis log is clean.
  • Open Spybot Search & Destroy.
  • In the Mode menu click "Advanced mode" if not already selected.
  • Choose "Yes" at the Warning prompt.
  • Expand the "Tools" menu.
  • Click "Resident".
  • Uncheck the "Resident "TeaTimer" (Protection of overall system settings) active." box.
  • In the File menu click "Exit" to exit Spybot Search & Destroy.
(Note: We will re-ENABLE them later after your system is all clean and malware free.)

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Please download Advanced Process Termination from:
http://www.diamondcs.com.au/downloads/apt.zip
Unzip it to the desktop.

Be sure to View Hidden and System Files.

Double-click on My Computer and navigate to C:\WINDOWS\System32. Locate the file uovlmrj.exe . Don't delete it yet, just leave the System32-folder open so you can see the bad file.

Now run APT.exe. Locate the process c:\windows\system32\uovlmrj.exe. Select this process and click Kill 3.

Then immediately return to the My Computer window to your System32 folder. Delete uovlmrj.exe.

Then run HijackThis, click Scan, and check:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ejnlphd] c:\windows\system32\uovlmrj.exe r
O16 - DPF: {3907FEBA-74A6-49C1-A389-B1E076416538} -

Close all open windows except for HijackThis and click Fix Checked.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Please download the trial version of Ewido Security Suite 3.5 here:
http://www.ewido.net/en/download/

Please read Ewido Setup Instructions
Install it, and update the definitions to the newest files. Do NOT run a scan yet.

Reboot in SAFE MODE. (How to boot in Safe Mode...)

Run Ewido:
  • Click on scanner
  • Click Complete System Scan and the scan will begin.
  • During the scan it will prompt you to clean files, click OK
  • When it asks if you want to clean the first file, put a check in the lower left corner of the box that says "Perform action on all infections" then choose clean and click OK.
  • When the scan is finished, click the Save report button at the bottom of the screen.
  • Save the report to your desktop
Close Ewido

reboot back in NORMAL MODE.

Post the Ewido report.

Ok. I unchecked "TeaTimer" and exited Spybot. Then checked win/sys32 ( I have view hidden filed enabled...always do but double checked) but I don't see uovlmrj.exe. attached is a screenshot:

notice this entry in the hijackthis log, the one with the r at the end
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ejnlphd] c:\windows\system32\uovlmrj.exe r

the infection actually morphs and randomly changes its filename.

Scan again with Hijackthis, fix the entry with the r on it then take note of the new filename it has morphed into then delete the offending file using APT.
( in case you do NOT see any running processes that corresponds to the O4 infection in APT, then please proceed with the remaining procedures.)

Reboot in Safe Mode then run the Ewido scan, save the results.
(reference is on post#4 of this topic)

reboot back in Normal Mode.

Post the results in Ewido as well as a new hijackthis log.

[EDITED] * Revised the fix sequence.

Sorry it has taken me a while to get back to this...too much work! :) Thank you for helping me. You are a true "superhero" defending the weak....I could go on but I think you get the drift! :)

I ran the Hijackthis log but did not find the ***.exe r file. I did the same with APT with the same result.

Here is the Ewido scan log after rebooting in safe mode:

What a plague! I removed the file but was unable to download panda. As a matter of fact, I can't even bring this site up on my home computer. So I'm at work. Here is the lastest HijackThis log:

Download L2mfix from one of these two locations:

Location 1: HERE
Location 2: HERE

Save the file to your desktop and double click l2mfix.exe. Click the Install button to extract the files and follow the prompts, then open the newly added l2mfix folder on your desktop. Double click l2mfix.bat and select option #1 for Run Find Log by typing 1 and then pressing enter. This will scan your computer and it may appear nothing is happening, then, after a minute or 2, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it into this thread.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run option #2 OR any other files in the l2mfix folder until you are asked to do so!

post a new hijackthis log as well as the results from L2Mfix.

hi policeman,

Each and every malware that infects your system needs a specific tool/s designed to remove it. There are automated tools available in the market like the Antivirus that can also remove these infections. However, it does not guarantee to 100% of removal. A manual removal is needed. So specific tools were designed to deal with a specific infection accordingly.

Some of the infections are just so tough that even these tools can't handle, so a deeper diagnostic is needed. Some tools that I suggested for downloads will be used as diagnostics to determine where they hide. :tazz:

Please proceed with the procedures and post back all the requested logs. :)
