My sweet boys have gone somewhere on my computer and now I have pop ups, etc. I have taken many of the steps recommended in the past, but still have a few problems. Please take a look at my logfile and give me some direction. Thanks so much for your help!

now close all windows and browsers and click FIX CHECKED

Download L2mfix from one of these two locations:

http://www.atribune....oads/l2mfix.exe
http://www.downloads....org/l2mfix.exe

Save the file to your desktop and double click l2mfix.exe. Click the Install button to extract the files and follow the prompts, then open the newly added l2mfix folder on your desktop. Double click l2mfix.bat and select option #1 for Run Find Log by typing 1 and then pressing enter. This will scan your computer and it may appear nothing is happening, then, after a minute or 2, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it into this thread.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run option #2 OR any other files in the l2mfix folder until you are asked to do so!

then reboot and post a fresh Hijackthis log.

Close any programs you have open since this step requires a reboot.

From the l2mfix folder on your desktop, double click l2mfix.bat and select option #2 for Run Fix by typing 2 and then pressing enter, then press any key to reboot your computer. After a reboot, your desktop and icons will appear, then disappear (this is normal). L2mfix will continue to scan your computer and when it's finished, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it back into this thread, along with a new hijackthis log.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run any other files in the l2mfix folder unless you are asked to do so!

I am still experiencing WinFixer and other popups. So, my problem isn't resolved yet. However, here is my new Hijack This logfile.

(I kept Activeshopper references, because that is a non-Malware program that I installed on purpose. No pop ups, etc. Just a great program that helps me find lowest prices on prouducts when I shop online! I love it.)

Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.1
Scan saved at 8:40:19 AM, on 8/13/2005

Thanks so much for your help. I cannot wait to get rid of Winfixer. Then, I want to post it to the world becuase so many people are having problems with it. This company should be dealt with in harsh manners for doing what they are with the program. It is the most annoying Malware I have ever experienced.

Thanks for your help! Donations for a successful eradication will be forthcoming!

now close all windows and browsers and click FIX CHECKED

Close any programs you have open since this step requires a reboot.

From the l2mfix folder on your desktop, double click l2mfix.bat and select option #4 to Merge Winlogon Notify Defaults, Press enter, wait a few moments
Now select option #2 for Run Fix by typing 2 and then pressing enter, then press any key to reboot your computer. After a reboot, your desktop and icons will appear,
then disappear (this is normal). L2mfix will continue to scan your computer and when it's finished, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it back into this thread, along with a new hijackthis log.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run any other files in the l2mfix folder until you are asked to do so!

P.S the makers of WINFIX should be hung, drawn and quartered. :tazz:

I agree about the makers of WINFIX! Someone should really do something about them!

Rerun HJT,and put a checkmark beside these :-

O16 - DPF: {AB86CE53-AC9F-449F-9399-D8ABCA09EC09} (Get_ActiveX Control) - https://h17000.www1....loadManager.ocx

now close all windows and browsers and click FIX CHECKED

DISABLE SYSTEM RESTORE run your anti virus, when you get the all clear
restart your system restore.(same page).then create a new restore point :-

click START\ALL PROGRAMS\ACCESSORIES\SYSTEM TOOLS\SYSTEM RESTORE. click on "create new restore point"
click on NEXT and follow the prompts.

this is to ensure that if you have to do a system restore in the future that you don't get all the nasties reinstalled again.

Then

Go to TOOLS\INTERNET OPTIONS. and delete all TEMP INTERNET FILES

Download CCLEANER

then run the scan under the windows tab.

then DEFRAG your C:\ drive.

to help speed up your system.

then let us know how the computer is running.
