First time posting so forgive me if I have done something wrong. I too have the winfixer problems. I read through some of the other threads but I thought I would post to make sure all my problems are gone. Up to now I have run Clean-up, Ad-aware, CWshredder, Spybot, and Ewido. Thanks in advance...

After a minute or 2, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it into this thread.

Close any programs you have open since this step requires a reboot.

From the l2mfix folder on your desktop, double click l2mfix.bat and select option #2 for Run Fix by typing 2 and then pressing Enter, then press any key to reboot your computer. After a reboot, your desktop and icons will appear, then disappear (this is normal). L2MFix will continue to scan your computer and when it's finished, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it back into this thread, along with a new HijackThis log.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run any other files in the l2mfix folder unless you are asked to do so!

Not quite yet....we still have a big one here. It's another infection, but we will get rid of it. I need two more logs from you:

* Download WinPFind http://www.bleepingc...es/winpfind.php
o Double click on WinPFind and unzip it to your Desktop.
o Don 't do anything with it yet!
* Download Track qoo http://www.geekstogo...ds/Trackqoo.zip
o Save it to the Desktop.

Restart your computer and boot into Safe Mode by hitting the F8 key repeatedly until a menu shows up (and choose Safe Mode from the list). In some systems, this may be the F5 key, so try that if F8 doesn't work.

Double click WinPFind.exe

* Click 'Start Scan'
* It will scan the entire system, so please be patient!
* Once the scan is complete:
1. Go to the WinPFind folder
2. Locate WinPFind.txt
3. Copy those results in the next post!

Reboot back to Normal Mode!

Double click on 'Track qoo.vbs'

Note - If you have an anti-virus program that has script blocking features, you will get a pop up window asking you what to do. Allow this entire script to run. It's harmless.

Wait a few seconds and Notepad will pop up. Copy & Paste those results and place them in the next post along with the results of WinPFind!

I extracted the files from the zipped form and placed them on the desktop. I can't see the WinPFind.exe on my desktop when I restart in safe mode. It is there in normal mode, but not in safe mode. Any suggestions?

Are you logged into your own account in Safe Mode? If not, I think it should be located in:

C:\Documents and Settings\jfrisbie\Desktop\ and look for your WinPFind folder and run WinPFind.exe

Save the file as "delete.reg". Make sure to save it with the quotes. Double click on it and choose Yes to merge it. You may delete the file afterwards.

Make sure to close any open browsers. Run a scan in HijackThis. Check each of the following and hit 'Fix checked' (after checking them) if they still exist (make sure not to miss any):

Download KillBox http://www.greyknigh...spy/KillBox.exe. Run KillBox and check the box that says 'End Explorer Shell While Killing File'. Next click on 'Delete on Reboot'. Copy the below files and go back to KillBox. Go to File->Paste from Clipboard and then hit the button with a red circle and white X. Confirm to delete and when asked if you want to reboot, say no:

After running HiJackThis the first time, it did not come up with:

I'm assuming it's alright, but I wanted to make sure that it is alright to proceed with the next step of downloading Killbox and continuing from there. Should I proceed as directed?

Since you can't find that, I want you to finish everything up and then restart and post a new HijackThis log. Then I want you to repeat the steps to post the WinPFind log (remember to do this in safe mode) and then get the Trackqoo log also (this is done in normal mode).

I was gone for a couple of days and upon return the file:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [KavSvc] C:\WINNT\system32\hnjjhp.exe reg_run

appeared on the HiJackThis log. I checked it and clicked Fix checked then proceeded with the KillBox steps. Then Rebooted and here is the newest HiJackThis log. I have not repeated the WinPFind steps or the Trackqoo since the file was located. Is it necessary for me to repeat these steps?
