Hi folks,

We have a win XP system that has "acquired" some very nasty spyware that just won't go away. I have tryed Spybot S+D with AVG anti virus and the stuff keeps on popping up. We've even got a couple viruses AVG says it cannot delete. I could use some help.

now close all windows and browsers and click FIX CHECKED


Download L2mfix from one of these two locations:

Save the file to your desktop and double click l2mfix.exe. Click the Install button to extract the files and follow the prompts, then open the newly added l2mfix folder on your desktop. Double click l2mfix.bat and select option #1 for Run Find Log by typing 1 and then pressing enter. This will scan your computer and it may appear nothing is happening, then, after a minute or 2, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it into this thread.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run option #2 OR any other files in the l2mfix folder until you are asked to do so!

Close any programs you have open since this step requires a reboot.

From the l2mfix folder on your desktop, double click l2mfix.bat and select option #2 for Run Fix by typing 2 and then pressing enter, then press any key to reboot your computer. After a reboot, your desktop and icons will appear, then disappear (this is normal). L2mfix will continue to scan your computer and when it's finished, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it back into this thread, along with a new hijackthis log.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run any other files in the l2mfix folder unless you are asked to do so!

Click on start, then run, and type cmd and press the ok button. Then type the following:

sc stop SvcProc

and press the enter key, wait a few moments, there might be an error,
if so continue on iregardless>

Type

sc delete SvcProc [hit enter]

Type exit and hit enter to exit the cmd prompt



Rerun HJT,and put a checkmark beside these :-(if it is still there)


O23 - Service: System Startup Service (SvcProc) - Unknown owner - c:\windows\SvcProc.exe (file missing)

now close all windows and browsers and click FIX

if it has gone ,your log looks clean.


DISABLE SYSTEM RESTORE run your anti virus, when you get the all clear
restart your system restore.(same page).then create a new restore point :-

click START\ALL PROGRAMS\ACCESSORIES\SYSTEM TOOLS\SYSTEM RESTORE. click on "create new restore point"
click on NEXT and follow the prompts.

this is to ensure that if you have to do a system restore in the future that you don't get all the nasties reinstalled again.

Then

Go to TOOLS\INTERNET OPTIONS. and delete all TEMP INTERNET FILES

Download CCLEANER


then run the scan under the windows tab.


then DEFRAG your C:\ drive.

to help speed up your system.

then let us know how the computer is running.

All steps have been done. I don't see the nasties we got rid of before. The system is running like a top and a new set of anti virus and ant spybot software has been installed. If this thing gets infected again, I'll take a sledgehammer to it first.
