are you still awake...it took an hour for the edwido scan; I am at the point of Silent Runner however nothing is happening (I am writting from another computer while I wait for the prompt "All Done!" ) How long should I wait since you said it appears to be doing nothing. I've waited over ten minutes now. When I double clicked I got a security message and I answered yes (to allowit) but nothing else has shown up on my desktop. Thank you. From the amateur

No log or save option came up after my panda ActiveScan...it auto returned to my desktop without any further info.
No message or anything came up after clicking Silent Runners; I even double clicked it before going to bed just to see if I wasn't waiting long enough.
Here is my edwido and HiJack This log.
Thank you.

No more than ten minutes for the Silentrunners log. It should have left a log on your desktop, can you post that. Also any change on how things are running?

Hello Excal,
No log posted on my desktop from Silent Runner. I've tried several different times. The hour glass shows that I double clicked but then nothing further occurs...I walk away; I wait but nothing. Edwido did have a log when I ran that last night and I am posting my latest hijack this. I stayed off this computer most of the day...I just ran this HiJack This log. I am still having problems with WINFIXER (especially as soon as I try to Google something) and being redirected when I choose a webpage (something completely unrelated comes up like sports.com is a usual visitor and match making services and such...websites I've never visited!)
I hope your on right now.
Thanks

Thanks

If you put Silent Runners in a folder, the log will be in that folder. If you put it on the desktop then it will be on the desktop.
Please let me know.
Thanks,

Hi Excal,
Silet Runners is on my desktop...I reloaded it suspecting I may have done it wrong (because I originally did not add .exe) but it still does not do anything????

it should be a .vbs file not an .exe file.

Hi Excal,
I looked to see that my first attempt was as a vbs (for silent runners) my second was as an exe; and now I have re-downloaded it as a vbs. Double clicked it off my desktop and got message "do you want to open this file" I clicked run, got an hour glass; waited and nothing happened (waited ten minutes, waited an hour still no luck).
I have re-run edwido in security mode and then restarted and did a fresh hijack this log. Here is my info. Thank you for your continued support.

Your still getting Winfixer correct?
Please Download the following tools to assist us in removing this infection!
Restart your computer and as soon as it starts booting up again continuously tap F8. A menu should come up where you will be given the option to enter Safe Mode.
Doubleclick WinPFind.exe
Double Click on "Track qoo.vbs"
Note - If you Antivirus has Script Blocking, you will get a Pop Up Windows asking you what to do. Allow this Entire Script to Run, its harmless!
Wait a few seconds and a notepad page will pop up, Copy & Paste those results and place them in the next post along with the results of WinPFind!

Hi Excal
When you say "be patient" how long are we talking...I've waited for several hours; there is an hourglass on the screen so I assume something is going on (although I don't really hear any noise coming from my cpu). The screen is only (and has only been) 1/3 full with words and then the rest is blank. Should I move on or do you think it is still doing something.
It only has two points (checking system drive%folders and then two listings)
Thanks

I am having no luck opening the track qoo folder...here is what happens:
I double click the zipped folder on my desktop track qoo
Then I click "extract all"
then it says this will help blah blah and I click "Next"
Then it asks to selct where and I choose my desktop
Then I click the show box
then it says press finish to continue so I press finish.
A File folder shows on my desktop labeld track qoo and I double click it
Then it shows an icon that looks like a list (or note pad or s )
I double click that and I get a prompt"do you want to open this file"
I click "open"...and that is the end of the road...nothing opens; nothing further happens.
I even redownloaded track qoo and went through this process several times to see if I'm missing the boat somehow
Since I have started this process my computer is running much slower. I am on a cable modem but sometimes running like a 28
Also, everytime I reboot my Norton firewall is disableed...is this normal?
Please note I am not complaining to you...I just want you to be aware of all the issues so you can make the best choices for my next step.
Thank you again.
I'm not sure if you are interested but here is my latest HJT log:

Hi Amateur Geek,
I understand your getting frustrated, but my problem is I can see whats going on with your computer because you can't run any of the programs I need to look at whats going on inside. SilentRunners, Trackqoo and WPfind all will tell some sort of story, but you can't get these programs to run so that presents a problem on pinpointing whats going on.
We can try and see if MWav will work.
I need you to download MWav to a convenient location.
This scan might take around 3+ hours to finish when set to scan everything.
I need you to run MWav by double-clicking on mwav.exe.
Put a check next to the below items before scanning:
**NOTE*** Sometimes MWav will pause and it appears to be finished, but it isn't done. Just let it run until it says it's complete.
On the bottom portion of the window, you will see the lower panel where MWav is listing "infected items". When it's done scanning, please highlight everything in that lower panel and copy them by holding CTRL + C then paste it here. The whole log will be extremely BIG so there is no way to post the log. I just need the infected items list.
Don't copy and paste the lines from infected files that are present in recovery or backupfolders from antispywarescanner (eg adaware, spybot s&d) or your virusscanner. Those I don't need.
I don't need the infected files/lines that are present in your System Volume Information-folder.
I just want all the other infected ones apart from those above.
