Alot of popups. Also, IE seems to show running in task list even though it does not appear to be an active application. We have five accounts on the PC. It gets worse as others log in to their account. IE always seems to be running and consumes all the CPU time.

Ran Adaware, Spybot, CS Shredder and EWIDO. Here is my HJ this dump. I appreciate the assistance.

Please reboot your computer in SafeMode by doing the following:

Restart your computer
After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.

Thanks Sam,

I followed your instructions, with one exception. I did'nt delete the prnta.exe file, the description said windows media player. Should I still blow it out? Also updated my Tren Micro AV. No pop ups for 5 minutes now. Here's my latest HJ log. Need to log in some of the other profiles and see if things are working okay. Thanks for your help.

That file does not belong to Windows Media Player. It is a trojan/keylogger. Read the description at this link carefully. You may want to change some passwords or contact your financial institution.

If you've recently updated Trend Micro, I strongly recommend running a full scan. It should pick up on any remnants and remove them.

Then also run this online virus scan.

Panda Online Virus Scan

There may be files listed that the online scan will identify, but not remove. Please include that information in your next post.

This log looks clean to me. If you have five accounts on the computer there may still be other infections that show up in the other accounts. Let's take them one at a time, starting with the most often used. Please log into that account and run a hijackthis log and post it here.

You've still got some malware showing up in your log.

Please make sure that you can VIEW ALL HIDDEN FILES.

Run Hijackthis again, click scan, and Put a checkmark next to each of these. Then close all other windows--you should only see HijackThis on your Desktop--and click the Fix Checked button.

Please reboot your computer in SafeMode by doing the following:

Restart your computer
After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.

* if you have trouble getting into Safe mode go here for more info.

Once in Safe mode, delete these files or directories (Do not be concerned if they do not exist):

C:\WINDOWS\System32\l?[bleep].exe <-- the ? could represent any character, but this file should be dated recently and is probably around 400kb in size.

Reboot back to normal mode.

Please run Panda Online Virus Scan

Make sure it is set to clean automatically.
There may be files that this scan will not remove.

Reboot and post a new hijackthis log and the info from your virus scan.

We're getting there. Just some cleaning up to do. :tazz:

Please reboot your computer in SafeMode by doing the following:

Restart your computer
After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.

* if you have trouble getting into Safe mode go here for more info.

Delete your temp files

Navigate to the C:\Windows\Temp folder.
- Open the Temp folder
- Select Edit -> Select All
- Select Edit -> Delete(or press the delete button on your keyboard) to delete the entire contents of the Temp folder.
Navigate to the C:\Windows\Prefetch folder.
- Open the Prefetch folder
- Select Edit -> Select All
- Select Edit -> Delete(or press the delete button on your keyboard) to delete the entire contents of the Temp folder.
Click Start -> Run and type %temp% in the Run box.
- Select Edit -> Select All
- Select Edit -> Delete(or press the delete button on your keyboard) to delete the entire contents of the Temp folder.
Click Start -> Control Panel -> Internet Options.
- Select the General tab
- Under "Temporary Internet Files" Click "Delete Files".
- Put a check by "Delete Offline Content" and click OK.
- Click on the Programs tab then click the "Reset Web Settings" button.
- Click Apply then OK.
Empty the Recycle Bin.

Delete these files:

Did what you said. Couldn't find the eber.exe, osdeb.exe or the l?[bllep].exe files. Looks like something whacked me again. Theres a toolbar on IE that was on a while ago but we removed. Also, icons on the desktop that we got rid of before are back. The icons don't let you view the properties, only delete comes up when you right click on them. The icons are "Find a date", "Casino Online","Tune up my PC", and "My Antivirus Update". Here's my latest HJ log. I really appreciate your persistence and assistance with cleaning this crud up.

I need to see a different type of log from Hijackthis.

Open Hijackthis, click "Open the Misc Tools section"
Next to "Generate StartupList log", place a check next to "List also minor sections" (full) and "List empty sections (complete).
Then click "Generate StartupList log"
Click "Yes" to the box that pops-up.
Then copy and paste the notepad text that appears to this topic.

Open notepad and copy and paste this text in it:

Save this as remjob.bat , choose to save it as *all files and place it on your desktop.

Doubleclick on remjob.bat. A doswindow will open and close again, this is normal.

Reboot and post a new hijackthis log.
