I am using Windows server2003 on a home network. When I start up I receive message 'failed to star driver or service'. Go to event viewer and ther are red warning signs next to the word 'application'. Go to devices manager but there are no yellow question marks or exclamation marks. Is ther any oher way besides re installingn to remedy this?

Hi and welcome to Geeks to Go. When you look at event viewer, right click on the red x and view properties. This will give you a clue as to what service or driver is the source of the problem. Then just deal with that. Re-install is the LAST thing to consider. Look at the details in event viewer and then persue a solution.
