ok, you will need to do a repair.

This is simulate to doing a clean install of xp, except you are needing to choose the repair option

When typed into the run box it just generated the error message that sfc wasn't a win32 application

OK will the repair lose files/ should I back-up everything? Also how come one user profile is fine and the other problematic is there no way to delete the user profile or something?

you will need to reboot and boot off the CD, sorry I should have told you that in the first posting on this subject.
