I've only really got into computers since XP so this might be a really dum question but ill ask it anyway cause you'll never learn anything if your worried about looking dum. Will my current programs like Microsoft Office and Photoshop work on vista or will I have to buy new versions?

Yes it should support the programs seeing as though they are compatible with past windows versions, in your case xp

All programs should be supported and even if they aren't the vendor would issue a patch for the new version of Windows. Microsoft would lose lots of money if they haven't made it backward compatiable with old programs including their own products (hence Office) because no one will buy the new version.
