Hi

===============

We'll need to unload Spybot's Teatimer before we begin. To do this, right-click on the icon in the quick launch toolbar at the bottom on the screen, then select "Exit".

===============

Please download miekiemoes' LQfix batch here:
http://www.downloads...m.org/LQfix.zip
Unzip it to the desktop but do NOT run it yet.

===============

Next, Open a command prompt by:

1. Clicking "Start", then "Run...".
2. Enter "cmd" (without the quotes).
3. Enter "services.msc" (without the quotes).

-

Now, locate and 'stop' the following services, if present:

Command Service (cmdService) owner ... (C:\WINDOWS\T3duZXIA\command.exe)

Look carefully, since the name of the service (above) can be anywhere in the entry; also be careful not to 'stop' any required system services.

===============

Run HiJackThis then:

1. Click "Config..."
2. Click "Misc Tools"
3. Click "Open Process manager"

-

Next, while holding down the CTRL key, locate (if present) and click on (highlight) each of the following:

C:\WINDOWS\T3duZXIA\command.exe
C:\WINDOWS\obhbdll.EXE
C:\WINDOWS\rmbgenc.EXE
C:\WINDOWS\etb\pokapoka63.exe

Now double-check and make sure that only those item(s) above are highlighted, then click "Kill process". Now, click "Refresh", check again, and repeat this step if any remain.

===============

Run HiJackThis and click "Scan", then check(tick) the following, if present:

R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://websearch.drs...esearch.cgi?id=
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = http://websearch.drs...esearch.cgi?id=
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,CustomizeSearch = http://websearch.drs...esearch.cgi?id=

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Vinvh] C:\Program Files\Skjgqw\Vmaqeml.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [exp] C:\WINDOWS\system32\exp
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [lanbrup] C:\WINDOWS\system32\lanbrup.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [obhbdll] C:\WINDOWS\obhbdll.EXE
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [rmbgenc] C:\WINDOWS\rmbgenc.EXE
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [exp.exe] C:\WINDOWS\system32\exp.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ttupt] C:\WINDOWS\ttupt.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [System service62] C:\WINDOWS\etb\pokapoka63.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [faxsjcg] c:\windows\system32\lrldtj.exe r
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [System service63] C:\WINDOWS\etb\pokapoka63.exe

O23 - Service: Command Service (cmdService) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\T3duZXIA\command.exe

Now, with all windows closed except HiJackThis, click "Fix checked".

===============
Next, please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following:
1) Restart your computer
2) After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
3) Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
4) Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.

For additional help in booting into Safe Mode, see the following site:
http://www.pchell.co.../safemode.shtml

================

Once in Safe Mode, please run LQfix.bat

=================

Locate and delete the following item(s), if present. Make sure your able to view system and hidden files/ folders:

folders...

C:\WINDOWS\T3duZXIA
C:\WINDOWS\etb
C:\Program Files\Skjgqw

files...

C:\WINDOWS\obhbdll.EXE
C:\WINDOWS\rmbgenc.EXE
C:\WINDOWS\system32\lanbrup.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\exp.exe
C:\WINDOWS\ttupt.exe
c:\windows\system32\lrldtj.exe

-

===============

Now reboot back into normal mode and post back a fresh Hijackthis log :tazz:

I didn't have a quick launch so icon in the tray so I uninstalled spybot, & reinstalled it leaving teatimer out.

I downloaded LQfix, and i ran services.msc.
cmdService isn't appearing anywhere, but i do see:

command services
description: blank
status: started
startup type: automatic
log on as: local system

I am going on with the next steps

is there any way to change the status if a pop-up menu doesn't appear when you right click over the word "started"?

Try it this way

Please go to START->RUN and type in serivces.msc and hit enter.

Now scroll down until you find Command service, double click it.

Under Service Status click on STOP

Under Startup Type click on the drop down menu and select Disabled

Click Apply then OK

i was able to kill everything, but the command service. It still appears in the services window. Double-clicking on it, command service, i see that there are several tabs: General, Log On, Recovery, and Dependencies. Is there anything else I can do to stop it.

I proceeded with the HijackThis instructions, & now I'm going to reboot in safe mode to do the rest.

The following is a list of tools and utilities that I like to suggest to people. This list is full of great tools and utilities to help you understand how you got infected and how to keep from getting infected again.
  • Spybot Search & Destroy - Uber powerful tool which can search and annhilate nasties that make it onto your system. Now with an Immunize section that will help prevent future infections.
  • AdAware - Another very powerful tool which searches and kills nasties that infect your system. AdAware and Spybot Search & Destroy compliment each other very well.
  • SpywareBlaster - Great prevention tool to keep nasties from installing on your system.
  • SpywareGuard - Works as a Spyware "Shield" to protect your computer from getting malware in the first place.
  • IE-SpyAd - puts over 5000 sites in your restricted zone so you'll be protected when you visit innocent-looking sites that aren't actually innocent at all.
  • CleanUP! - Cleans temporary files from IE and Windows, empties the recycle bin and more. Great tool to help speed up your computer and knock out those nasties that like to reside in the temp folders.
  • Windows Updates - It is very important to make sure that both Internet Explorer and Windows are kept current with the latest critical security patches from Microsoft. To do this just start Internet Explorer and select Tools > Windows Update, and follow the online instructions from there.
  • Google Toolbar - Free google toolbar that allows you to use the powerful Google search engine from the bar, but also blocks pop up windows.
  • Trillian or Miranda-IM - These are Malware free Instant Messenger programs which allow you to connect to multiple IM services in one program! (AOL, Yahoo, ICQ, IRC, MSN)
To find out more information about how you got infected in the first place and some great guidelines to follow to prevent future infections you can read this article by Tony Klein
