Hey guys,

We seem to be having a problem establishing an internet connection using dial-up networking. When I try to connect it will dial but then all I hear is this fast beeping tone, not the engaged tone, but faster. I cancel the connection, then try to connect again and Windows says it can't detect my modem. I repeat this process, sometimes for ages, until it just connects. I've been through some of the Windows help steps but nothing seems to help.

This is just a guess, but my modem is running through COM3 even though my communications port is COM1, that seemed strange, not sure if it means anything though.

Thanks for your time
