CAN NOT DOWNLOAD SP2, CD/DVD AND SOUND DON'T WORK

i NEED TO KNOW NOW WHY MY CD/DVD AND SOUND IS GONE?
ALSO I GO TO MICROSOFT.COM
AND TRY TO DOWNLOAD THE WINDOWS XP SP2, BUT THE COMPUTER JUST STAYS CHECKING FOR UPDATES, AND IT NEVER GIVES ME THE SP2 FOR DOWNLOADING. AND THE ONE TIME THAT IT DID FINISH SCANNING IT GAVE ME AN ERROR.

PLEASE HELP. THANKS.

Click start, run, type sfc /scannow then press enter to replace the system files, you need the XP CD and get a blue bar

What soundcard have you?

Ok, I went to run this file and it does not find it.
Also what do you want me to do with the windows cd?

It is typed sfc space /scannow

sfc /scannow

Hi i ran that file and the window was closed after it finished, but I didn't see anything happened.

how do you re-install the drivers?

You need to find them on the internet, and make sure there the drivers are for you sound card. Then once you have found the setup files for it, install them like normal.

I downloaded this driver, but windows says that I should not install it because it did not pass a compability test?
