Choose one of these for the firewall

http://www.filehippo...ware/firewalls/

You could add Microsoft anti spyware and Ad-Aware SE

http://www.filehippo...re/antispyware/

Have not used Counter Spy

Beta versions are prone to issues but lots of people have Microsoft anti spyware. They bought out Giant anti spyware and basically rebadged it.

If you install any of the firewalls, you should only have one running, so turn off the Windows one.

XP firewall only blocks incoming data, the possible theory being that if it does not let anything erroneous on, then there isn't going to be anything amiss going out.

All the firewall from the list check incoming and outgoing data, which has to be a better way.

Make sure you install the other firewall, that it is updated, if necessary and running.

Click start then control panel then security centre, click windows firewall at the bottom, select off, click OK

Microsoft Antispyware is here

http://www.microsoft...&displaylang=en

It is only available in Beta but as before, a lot of people use it
