Looking for Banner Ad and Popup Blocker

for the pop up blocker i would recommend the google toolbar ,
or you could (assuming you have IE) install firefox (built-in pop up blocker ).
if diabling banner ads is a little tougher. your best bet would be to use firefox as your web brower, and then download the NoScript extension. if you end up doing this you will be DISABLING ALL JAVASCRIPT. i don't recommend this for newbies.
i would stick with blocking pop ups. blocking banner ads is a touch and go process and you may end up diabling more than you were hoping for, and still not catch every banner ad.
