I'm just recently after coming home from a trip, my computer has been in use by the family and things arent as i left it. I'm not that great when it comes to the spyware and virus of computers, so i'm full of questions.

So i ran norton, just to be safe.
Luckily it picked up no inflected files though, whatever it picked up to be catagorized under spyware it didn't delete and under status reported, "delete failure".

Is there any other ways i can rid myself of all the unwanted spyware on my computer?

Just recently i ran;
Norton Internet Security 2004, Full System Scan
Spybot - Search & Destroy
Ad-aware 6.0

Also, would this program be better to use to find adware/spyware?

And in the users/local settings/temp Is it safe to delete all these files?

And as i saw around these forums, i downloaded and used, "HiJackThis", after all my scans.

The next time I have you post a log, you must download the latest version of Hijack This, which can be found in my signature. You have an old version and it doesn't do a very good job of picking up the latest threats.

In the meantime, go to add/remove programs and remove any reference to

You have a number of randomonly named files on your system. We like to start with an online virus and trojan scan. Even though you have antivirus software on your system, it can become corrupted by malware.

Please run a free online virus scan here (tick the "Auto Clean" checkbox):

And a free trojan scan here:
http://www.moosoft.com/

Download Ad-aware from: http://www.geekstogo...n=download&id=5

Install the program and launch it.

First, in the main window, look in the bottom right corner and click on Check for updates now and download the latest reference files.

Next, we need to configure Ad-aware for a full scan.

-> Click on the Gear icon (second from the left) to access the preferences/settings window

1. In the General window make sure the following are selected:

• Automatically save log-file
• Automatically quarantine objects prior to removal
• Safe Mode (always request confirmation)

2. Click on the Scanning button on the left and select :

• Scan Within Archives
• Scan Active Processes
• Scan Registry
• Deep Scan Registry
• Scan my IE favorites for banned URL’s
• Scan my Hosts file
• Under Click here to select drives + folders, choose:
• All of your hard drives

-> Click on the Advanced button on the left and select:

• Include additional process information
• Include additional file information
• Include environment information
• Include additional object details

-> Click the Tweak button and select:

• Under the Scanning Engine:
  • Unload recognized processes during scanning
  • Include basic Ad-aware settings in logfile
  • Include additional Ad-aware settings in logfile
• Under the Cleaning Engine:
  • Let Windows remove files in use at next reboot

-> Click on Proceed to save the settings.

-> Click Start and on the next screen choose Activate in-depth Scan at the bottom of the page and then choose:

• Use Custom Scanning Options

-> Click Next and Ad-aware will scan your hard drive(s) with the options you have selected.

-> Save the log file when it asks and then click Finish

-> When finished, mark everything for removal and get rid of it. (Right-click the window and choose Select All from the drop down menu and click Next).

Please delete your temporary files by deleting all files and folders that are in those folders (do not delete the temp folder itself) like for example
C:\WINDOWS\Temp\
C:\Temp\

I am planning on removing one of the anti-virus programs, but i have a question.
I was planning on keeping norton, and taking off the other. But i am considering to take both on and put on PC-Cillin Internet Security 2005. Which would be a better choice? PC-Cillin Internet Security 2005 or Norton?

Most important is to choose one, and keep it updated! If you already have one, no need to buy another.

Just one more. Please go offline, close all browsers and any open Windows, making sure that only HijackThis is open. Scan and when it finishes, put an X in the boxes, only next to these following items, then click fix checked.
