Ran the file check and it found no corrupted files...Do you think this problem has anything to do with me installing that firewall or is it just a coindence?

It very well could have something to do with your firewall.

We're getting away from malware related issues now, which is what I know best. With that in mind I'd like to refer another forum here at Geeks to Go where one of my colleagues with more experience in this area should be able to help you.
