I just finished removing Aurora Spyware from a friends Dell Inspiron 8200 laptop. Everything looked ‘good’, I’ve been rebooting after every scan and utility check without any problems.

I'm all done, think everything is ok, and then I checked Windows Update for the last time... and now the laptop won't reboot!!!

After the last update (and I'm not sure what was loaded then) the screen comes to the desktop, but keeps 'clocking' and never finshes...

I opened Windows Task Manager and checked the Processes tab:

System Idle Process - 99 (CPU)
then
ewidoguard.exe - 60 (CPU)
then
svchost.exe - 80 (CPU)

and then back through again.

I started it in SAFE MODE and ran CCleaner and Ewido Security Suite with no noticable results.

Checked Ad Aware and Spybot.

Tried Defrag and ScanDisk

What should I check to work this out????
