Could someone please help me.

Everytime I turn on my computer I get a message that the file wininet.dll is missing from my system folder. I try to copy it back into the folder but when I reboot my computer, it is gone. Here is a copy of my HihackThis file.

Download smitRem.exe and save the file to your desktop.
Double click on the file to extract it to it's own folder on the desktop.

*Click here and download Killbox by Option^Explicit.
*Extract the program to your desktop and double-click on its folder, then double-click on Killbox.exe to start the program.
*In the killbox program, select the Replace on Reboot option.
*Put a checmark in the Use dummy box
*Copy the file name below into the Full Path for File to Delete box

C:\WINDOWS\Q475871_DISK.DLL

*Click the red-and-white "Delete File" button. Click "Yes" at the Delete on Reboot prompt. Click "No" at the Pending Operations prompt

That will cause your computer to reboot, make sure it does that to SafeMode by doing the following:
  • Restart your computer
  • After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
  • Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
  • Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.
Now scan with HJT and place a checkmark next to each of the following items, then click FIX CHECKED:
===================================================
O4 - Startup: PowerReg Scheduler V3.exe

O20 - Winlogon Notify: style2 - C:\WINDOWS\Q475871_DISK.DLL

Open the smitRem folder, then double click the RunThis.bat file to start the tool. Follow the prompts on screen.
Wait for the tool to complete and disk cleanup to finish.

The tool will create a log named smitfiles.txt in the root of your drive, eg; Local Disk C: or partition where your operating system is installed. Please post that log along with a new HijackThis log.

Is anything guarding your registry that you know of?

It appears the files are gone, but the pointers are still there.

Can you repeat this part:
Now scan with HJT and place a checkmark next to each of the following items, then click FIX CHECKED:

O4 - Startup: PowerReg Scheduler V3.exe

O20 - Winlogon Notify: style2 - C:\WINDOWS\Q475871_DISK.DLL (file missing)

Reboot and check if they stay away.
