i need help with getting a nasty out of my brother's pc. Last summer "Spyblast" installed itself in his hard drive, I have seen it in the registry.

I have been to the sites that tell you how to remove spyblast and I've tried them all. I have removed a few of it's elements, and it' harmless as far as I can tell. But it still won't come out. I DL'd Professional Cleaner and it knows that it is there, cause it's in the list. When I go to terminate it, it goes away momentarily until you log back in again. Then it's back in the bottom toolbar again.

Any tricks to get it out? I have talked to computer friends and tried their ideas with no luck.

He has a Dell desktop running XP home edition. That seems to be the only thing bad in his pc. I have cleaned out 26 viruses and numerous trojans out of it already. It runs faster than it ever has.

Would it be alright to leave it in there until a reformat in the future?

Thanks <_<

I've used Spybot S & D. It doesn't even recognize it.

I downloaded Spysweeper, and it recognized it, said it was gonna remove it, but was unsuccessful.

You can't believe the things I've tried to get it out.

You've tried this?

Removal
Open the Downloaded Program Files folder in the Windows folder, right-click the entry 'SBFullInst Control' and choose 'Remove'. Next, open the registry (click 'Start', choose 'Run' and enter 'regedit') and find the key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run. Delete the 'SpyBlast' entry.

Restart the computer and you should be able to delete the 'SpyBlast' folder inside Program Files.

You could also post a Hijack Log, and we'll take a look at it. <_<

Just a note here. I have uninstalled ALL pop- up blockers! I don't need them at all.

I say this because, wow there is a lot of pop-up crap still in there.

Please move Hijack This into it's own directory. Then we'll have backups available should they be needed.

You have Rapid Blaster spyware. It requires a special tool to remove. Click Here download it to your desktop, and run. When finished you can delete the downloaded file from your desktop.

Please go offline, close all browsers and any open Windows, making sure that only HijackThis is open. Scan and when it finishes, put an X in the boxes, only next to these following items that remain, then click fix checked.

C:\Program Files\SpyBlast\SpyBlast.exe
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,CustomizeSearch =
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = about:blank
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page_bak = http://www.searchv.com/
R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar,LinksFolderName =
R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - - (no file)
O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {339BB23F-A864-48C0-A59F-29EA915965EC} - (no file)
O3 - Toolbar: REALBAR - {4E7BD74F-2B8D-469E-C0FF-FD60B590A87D} - C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\Real\Toolbar\realbar.dll
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [rbenh ml710e] "C:\Program Files\RBEnhance\rbenh.exe"
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [SpyBlast] C:\Program Files\SpyBlast\SpyBlast.exe /autorun

Restart in safe mode and delete these folders:
C:\Program Files\SpyBlast\ <- folder
C:\Program Files\RBEnhance\ <- folder

Reboot your PC.

If you would please, rescan with HijackThis and post a fresh log.

I don't think SpySweeper works very well, but that's your call <_<
