okay, i have verizon DSL, and a wireless modem.
Total computers 6
2 running XP, 4 running 2000

This is how i set up the network.
from wall to modem->router->1 wired to computer, rest wireless.

I talked to verizon about the conflict, and they said, the router and the modem have the same ip, so u have to change the router's ip by 1. I did that. but as soon as i do that, the whole network goes down. nothing loads, and if i change it back to 1 again then it loads, but it conflicts with modem and keeps goin off, and comin back on again....really annoying.
what I did was, to remove the conflict, i changed the router's ip by 1, then in the connection, the DNS and the DEFAULT gateway was the router's ip which was 192.168.1.2 after i changed it, and modem is 192.168.1.1. so i went to properties and TCP/IP properties and manually put the IP. Put DNS and the gateway as 192.168.1.1 as it showed in the automatic configuration. only thing i changed was gateway from XXX.XXX.XXX.2 to XXX.XXX.XXX.1.

I did that to all the computers and then all the computer have internet. but mine's loading reall slow...page loads up like 56k modem or slower, and when i go to 2wire and check the speed im at 600+kbps. what could be the problem?

what you should do is enabling the DHCP on the router and let the router assign IP to all computers. So that, you won't have IP conflict.
