Well, I was at my buddies Party and I couldnt really stop his computer to do all the Scans and stuff on the "Start Here" section (he was using his computer as the music source ) He Cant access Email or Bank online ?? He can surf the internet fine but when he goes to log in at Comcast he gets a "Page cannot be displayed" I went and added the sites to his trusted sites zone and checked to make sure cookies were allowed ,and still no accessing his email ??

Think its spyware

Hi retrac and Welcome to GeekstoGo!

We can do Msconfig later,Go ahead and Download WinPFind:
http://www.bleepingc...es/winpfind.php

Right Click the Zip Folder and Select "Extract All"

Don't use it yet!

Please download the trial version of Ewido Security Suite here:
http://www.ewido.net/en/download/

Please read Ewido Setup Instructions
Install it, and update the definitions to the newest files. Do NOT run a scan yet.

Reboot into SAFE MODE(Tap F8 when restarting)
Here is a link on how to boot into Safe Mode:
http://service1.syma...src=sec_doc_nam

Once in Safe Mode-> Scan the Entire System with Ewido-> Clean all it Finds-> Be sure to click the tab Save a Report!

From the WinPFind folder-> Doubleclick WinPFind.exe and Click "Start Scan"

It will scan the entire System, so please be patient!

One you see "Scan Complete"-> a log (WinPFind.txt) will be automatically generated in the WinPFind folder!

Run MSCONFIG and enable everything in the startup area. To get to MSCONFIG, click on Start -> Run -> type in MSCONFIG -> click OK!

Under the "General" Tab
Make Sure Normal Startup is Checked!!

Click Apply>>Close>>Follow the Prompts to Restart!!

Restart Normal and have the PC Scanned here:
Panda Active Scan

You will need to be using Internet Explorer for the Scan to work!

Save the Report it generates

Post back with a fresh HijackThis log and the reports from WinPFind-> Ewido and Panda!

Well ..i was thinking maybe just Windows Firewall.... ZoneAlarm uses about 15mb RAM and my friends computer only has 256mb RAM (so if you think ZA would be worth the resources ,over Windows Firewall Ill install ZoneAlarm ).

I personally use ZoneAlarm and find it very easy to use on my computer at home :tazz:

I hear Sygate is good too, but a lil more complex ???

OH !!!! And THANK YOU SO MUCH !!! :) :)

I think Windows Firewall Sucks Wind!

But thats just me!

ZoneAlarm is a heavy program and Sygate can be confusing but think back to when you first installed Zone Alarm,it has its confusing moments as well!

Here is one I have heard lots of good things about!

Kerio Personal Firewall

The computer is running great and all accounts are accessible now

...man thats just rude what they did. I guess it was just like some kind of Block on Secure web pages or something ???

Thanks again Cretemonster :)
