I'm unable to access my user accounts. When I click on User Accounts in the control panel, nothing happens. No error message, nothing. I've tried from safe mode with no change. There are 4 users and all have administrative authority.

I ran mmc from safe mode and the Console Root didn't show any snap-ins in place. I tried adding the snap-in for Local Users and Groups but it named that file Console1 and doesn't seem to kick in.

I'm not having any functionality problems or problems accessing programs other then that. I'm running XP Professional 2002 with Service Pack 2

Any Ideas??

Put your Windows XP CD in you PC and:

1. Close all open windows
2. Go to "Start", then "Run"
3. Type "sfc.exe /scannow" and press enter
4. After it's done, restart and see if the problem persists

What this does is scans and verifies the versions of all protected system files and fixes what needs to be fixed.

Thanks for the suggestion, but no change.

While I had the Windows CD in I tried to check for system compatibility, but it said that the version of windows on my computer was newer then the one on the disk?? Could this be because I installed Service Pack 2? I had the problem before I installed SP2

Let us take a closer look at what is running on your PC. We'll need you to use a free diagnostic tool (HiJackThis) and post a log back here with the results.

Click the HijackThis Guide in my signature, download it and follow the instructions in the guide.

Most of what it lists will be harmless or even essential, DO NOT delete or modify anything yet! Someone will be along to tell you what steps to take after you post the contents of the scan results.

Hmm, I don't see anything in here that looks too bad, just a little bit of cleaning up.

Run hijack this again and remove these entries
