Welcome to GTG texasrose752.

Download the Hoster from here. Press "Restore Original Hosts" and press "OK". Exit Program. This will restore the original Hosts file.

Please go offline, close all browsers and any open Windows, making sure that only HijackThis is open. Scan and when it finishes, put an X in the boxes, only next to these following items, then click fix checked.

Please reboot into safe mode (continually tap the F8 key while your system is starting, select Safe Mode from the menu).
Be sure you're able to view hidden files, and remove the following files in bold (if found):
C:\WINDOWS\System32\AANTX.dll
C:\WINDOWS\Lnbjgbro.dll
C:\WINDOWS\System32\winb2s32.dll

To remove spydeleter O9 entries: Open notepad, and copy and paste the contents of the quote box below into a new text file.

Save it as file name: "fixme.reg" (not including the quotes). Save as file type: *All files* and save it on your Desktop.

REGEDIT4

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Extensions\{FB74C951-ACA1-4e33-A94C-A9261EB2CCB7}]

Then, locate fixme.reg on your desktop and double-click it.
You will receive a prompt similar to: "Do you wish to merge the information into the registry?".
Answer 'Yes' and wait for a message to appear similar to "Merged Successfully".

You can delete fixme.reg when finished. Reboot and post a fresh log.

I copied and installed the registry info and rebooted as instructed, but the two lines showed up again on the new HiJack log. Any other suggestions?

Ok, let me change up the wording. Do exactly what I say:

Please go offline, close all browsers and any open Windows, making sure that only HijackThis is open. Scan and when it finishes, put an X in the boxes, only next to these following items, then click fix checked.

O9 - Extra button: Your PC is infected with Spyware - click here to fix your PC - {FB74C951-ACA1-4e33-A94C-A9261EB2CCB7} - https://www.spydelet...2.php?KBID=1062 (file missing)
O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: Your PC is infected with Spyware - click here to fix your PC - {FB74C951-ACA1-4e33-A94C-A9261EB2CCB7} - https://www.spydelet...2.php?KBID=1062 (file missing)

Reboot your PC.

If you would please, rescan with HijackThis and post a fresh log, and let us know how your system's working. <_<

OK, closed all windows, scanned, checked two boxes... but when I hit the repair button, the whole window (log) went blank. Waited a couple of seconds, nothing came back up. Closed it and re-booted. Ran scan again, two boxes were still there. Tried the whole sequence again, with same results.

Shall I get out the butcher's knife?

These two entries don't pose a threat. They're just entries without a action related to them. You might want to fix them in safe mode. Anyhow, you're safe with them still there. Congratulations! Your system is CLEAN <_<

How do you prevent spyware from being installed again? We strongly recommend installing SpywareBlaster (it's free for personal use).

Prevent the installation of ActiveX-based spyware, adware, browser hijackers, dialers, and other potentially unwanted pests.
Block spyware/tracking cookies in Internet Explorer and Mozilla/Firefox.
Restrict the actions of potentially dangerous sites in Internet Explorer.
Consumes no system resources.

Download, run, check for updates, download updates, select all, protect against checked. All done. Check for updates every couple of weeks. If you have any errors running the program like a missing file see the link at the bottom of the javacool page.
Link to SpywareBlaster: http://www.geekstogo...tion=show&id=12

It's also CRITICAL to keep your system up to date to avoid unnecessary security risks. Click Here to make sure that you have the latest patches for Windows.

Included in those updates is Windows XP Service Pack 2. Since you're junkware free, the time to get it is NOW (If you haven't already). Service Pack 2 is a MAJOR upgrade for XP. It adds numerous security and software patches, as well as new features and functionality. You will also be adding another layer of protection against future threats.

Running an anti-virus and keeping it up-to-date is REQUIRED to keep a clean system. If you don't have one or are sick of paying for what you have, AVG offers a great, free anti-virus:
http://free.grisoft....us/doc/2/tpl/v5

A firewall is also another MUST. If you do not have one or Windows XP Service Pack 2, both Zone Labs and Sygate offer great, free firewalls. I suggest using Zone Alarm for an advanced user or Sygate Personal Firewall for beginner users.

These next two steps are optional, but will provide the greatest protection.
1. Use ANY browser at all times besides Internet Explorer, almost every exploit is crafted to take advantage of an IE weakness. We usually recommend Firefox (You'll need to use IE only to visit Windows Update).
2. Install Sun's Java. It's much more secure than Microsoft's Java Virtual Machine.

It's okay to delete the Hijack This folder in a couple weeks if everything is working okay.

After doing all these, your system will be thoroughly protected from future threats. :D

Smokey, you're a man after my own heart!! (Unless, of course, you're a woman... but we'll just assume, OK?)

THANKS SO MUCH FOR ALL YOUR HELP! I was able to not only get rid of this horrid virus, but also finally get this PC up and running on my home network!

Y'all are Geeks from Heaven!!
