I was having problem being redirected to Winfixer every time I opened IE. Also, inundated with popups, even when IE was not open. Also, computer restarts on its own and when I tried to do something (forget what) it told me I had to close IE first and it was not open. Spent half a day on the phone with MS. They had me delete some reg files and download and run their Antispyware. Everything seemed okay for a day. Yesterday it all started again.
Ran cleanup.
Ran Adaware but computer restarted 4 times and had popups while scanning. Could only complete about 60 percent but it found 1 file, 1 reg key and 1 reg value.
Ran CWshredder. Found cws.look2me.
Ran Spybot.
Ran Edwido. After 2 restarts and finally shutting down cable modem, it completed.
Found 10 items and cleaned.
Ran Housecall. Restarted and could not finish. While running, Ewido popped up twice and found Trojan dropper.pb.
Below is my Hijack this and Ewido files.

Hi emmasgma and Welcome to GeekstoGo!

That appears to be the Look2me Infection,so please download the l2mfix from here
http://www.atribune....oads/l2mfix.exe
or
http://www.downloads....org/l2mfix.exe

Save the file to your desktop and double click l2mfix.exe.

Click the Install button to extract the files and follow the prompts, then open the newly added l2mfix folder on your desktop.

Double click l2mfix.bat and select option #1 for Run Find Log by typing 1 and then pressing enter. This will scan your computer and it may appear nothing is happening, then, after a minute or 2, notepad will open with a log.

Copy the contents of that log and paste it into this thread.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run option #2 OR any other files in the l2mfix folder until I ask you to.

If you recieve any error messages for CMD or Autoexec.bat>> Select Option 5 from the l2mfix and once at the Site,Click on the link that apply to your Operating System!

Double Click the file it downloads and Extract the files to its predetermined System32 folder!

Maybe I should have selected fast reply earlier today. Sorry. I am having some eye surgery tomorrow and have been told I should not be using my computer until Monday. Please recontact me then as I really would like to get this fixed before I start back to work. I have an
at-home business that I need my computer.
Thank you.

No problems, good luck on the Surgery,I hope everything goes well for you!

When you get back just follow the Instructions below!

Close any programs you have open since this step requires a reboot.

From the l2mfix folder on your desktop, double click l2mfix.bat and select option #2 for Run Fix by typing 2 and then pressing enter, then press any key to reboot your computer.

After a reboot, your desktop and icons will appear, then disappear (this is normal). L2mfix will continue to scan your computer and when it's finished, notepad will open with a log.

Copy the contents of that log and paste it back into this thread, along with a new hijackthis log.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run any other files in the l2mfix folder until you are asked to do so!

After posting those 2 logs, proceed with the Instructions below!

Please download the trial version of Ewido Security Suite here:
http://www.ewido.net/en/download/

Please read Ewido Setup Instructions
Install it, and update the definitions to the newest files. Do NOT run a scan yet.

If you have not already installed Ad-Aware SE 1.06, follow these download and setup instructions, otherwise, check for updates:
Ad-Aware SE Setup
Don't run it yet!

Download and Install
CleanUp!
Dont use it yet!

Reboot into SAFE MODE(Tap F8 when restarting)
Here is a link on how to boot into Safe Mode:
http://service1.syma...src=sec_doc_nam

Run Cleanup, when prompted to log off>> Select No

Scan the PC with Ewido just as described in the link-> Clean everthing it finds and make sure to Save the Report

Scan the System with Ad Aware, remove everything it finds and delete all quaratine files!

Run MSCONFIG and enable everything in the startup area. To get to MSCONFIG, click on Start -> Run -> type in MSCONFIG -> click OK!

Under the "General" Tab
Make Sure Normal Startup is Checked!!

Click Apply>>OK>>Follow the Prompts to Restart!!

Restart Normal and have the PC Scanned here:
Panda Active Scan

You will need to be using Internet Explorer for the Scan to work!

Save the Report it generates

Download the Hoster from here:
http://www.funkytoad...load/hoster.zip
Press "Restore Original Hosts" and press "OK"!
Exit Program!

Post back with a fresh HijackThis log and the reports from Ewido and Panda!

Hello again. I ran F-Secure again and copied down what it found. Hope this helps. It does seem that pop-ups and WinFixer redirects have stopped. The files are as all Norton quarantine files as follows:
C:programfiles\nortonantivirus\quarantine\208C67D8.exe trojan downloader.win32.small.abd
C:programfiles\nortonantivirus\quarantine\44025152.dll trojan downloader.win32.Qoologic.n

COpy the text in the code box to a blank notepad page and save it to the desktop as rem.reg but dont run it just yet!

REGEDIT4

[-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\xtfsnxxy]

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Directory\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\TheCleaner]

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Folder\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\TheCleaner]

[-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\TheCleaner]

[-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{00704d96-249d-4897-a505-d06b22678099}]

[-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{2DE506B9-4320-11d3-8E42-002035221EDA}]

Run these 2 files through Killbox just like you did the others!

C:\WINDOWS\zhjro.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\aojrn.dll

After killboxing those files-> locate and double click rem.reg and allow it to merge into the registry!

Go ahead and clear out Nortons Quarantine files
http://service1.syma...src=bar_sch_nam

Please Install these 2 to add to the Security of the PC!

SpywareBlaster:
http://www.javacools...areblaster.html
Update Immediatly!

WinHelp2002 Hosts File

Made Easy
http://www.mvps.org/...2002/hosts2.htm

Disable System Restore
http://service1.syma...src=sec_doc_nam

Go ahead and Reconfigure Msconfig the way you like the PC to Startup!

Go ahead and remove any of the tools downloaded that are of no use anymore!

Post back and let me know how things are?

:tazz: I can't say thank you enough! Everything seems to be running smoothly now; i.e. faster, non pop-ups and best of all, NO WINFIXER!

I have some quick questions:
Should I have Ad Aware SE and MS Antispyware both?
How often should I check for updates with Spyware Blaster?
Should I keep Hijack This?

Again, thank you for your time and expertise.

One Happy Camper :)

Twas my pleasure to be able to assist you in your time of need!

Go ahead and Renable System Restore!

Throw Microsoft AntSpyware out the Window and trust in Ad Aware!

Check Spyware Blaster-> Windows-> Your Antivirus and Firewall for updates atleast once a week!

Clear out all temp files about once a week as well a weekly scan with Ad Aware until you are comfy!

Please read through those 3 little black links in my signature!

There is alot of interesting information in them as well with Metallicas Spyware Page!
http://metallica.geekstogo.com/

If ever you need my help again, you know where to find me!
