A couple of weeks ago, my computer got blasted with pop-up windows galore. I've removed tons of spyware and malware programs, but I can't get Winfixer 2005 off the computer. I've done all the steps on the "do this first page," and still no luck. Here's my Hijack This log. Thanks much for your help:

That appears to be the Look2me Infection,so please download the l2mfix from here

Save the file to your desktop and double click l2mfix.exe.

Click the Install button to extract the files and follow the prompts, then open the newly added l2mfix folder on your desktop.

Double click l2mfix.bat and select option #1 for Run Find Log by typing 1 and then pressing enter. This will scan your computer and it may appear nothing is happening, then, after a minute or 2, notepad will open with a log.

Copy the contents of that log and paste it into this thread.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run option #2 OR any other files in the l2mfix folder until I ask you to.


If you recieve any error messages for CMD or Autoexec.bat>> Select Option 5 from the l2mfix and once at the Site,Click on the link that apply to your Operating System!

Double Click the file it downloads and Extract the files to its predetermined System32 folder!

Close any programs you have open since this step requires a reboot.


From the l2mfix folder on your desktop, double click l2mfix.bat and select option #2 for Run Fix by typing 2 and then pressing enter, then press any key to reboot your computer.

After a reboot, your desktop and icons will appear, then disappear (this is normal). L2mfix will continue to scan your computer and when it's finished, notepad will open with a log.

Copy the contents of that log and paste it back into this thread, along with a new hijackthis log.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run any other files in the l2mfix folder until you are asked to do so!

After posting those 2 logs,proceed with the Instructions below!

Install it, and update the definitions to the newest files. Do NOT run a scan yet.

If you have not already installed Ad-Aware SE 1.06, follow these download and setup instructions, otherwise, check for updates:

Download and Install
CleanUp!
Dont use it yet!

Reboot into SAFE MODE(Tap F8 when restarting)

Run Cleanup,when prompted to log off>> Select No

Scan the PC with Ewido just as described in the link-> Clean everthing it finds and make sure to Save the Report

Scan the System with Ad Aware,remove everything it finds and delete all quaratine files!

Run MSCONFIG and enable everything in the startup area. To get to MSCONFIG, click on Start -> Run -> type in MSCONFIG -> click OK!

Under the "General" Tab
Make Sure Normal Startup is Checked!!

Click Apply>>OK>>Follow the Prompts to Restart!!

Restart Normal and have the PC Scanned here:
Panda Active Scan

You will need to be using Internet Explorer for the Scan to work!

Save the Report it generates

Download the Hoster from here:

Press "Restore Original Hosts" and press "OK"!
Exit Program!


Post back with a fresh HijackThis log and the reports from Ewido and Panda!

I'd downloaded the free version of ewido more than two weeks ago, so my trial run is over. If I need to buy the license to fix this problem, I'll do so. But I wanted to check with you first before making the purchase.

When I went into safe mode, the Cleanup program did its job. Then I tried to run Ewido and AdAware and neither would run. Then I tried opening HJT and it wouldn't open.

I tried to run MSCONFIG to return to normal mode and it wouldn't open that window either. I tried restarting several times and tried rebooting in normal mode, but nothing worked. The start menu and the task bar also disappeared. Finally, I did a system restore back several days and that started the computer back up.

What do I do now? (BTW, no pop-ups have come up since I've been on after the restore...)

Right-Click Here and Click "Save As" to download DelDomains.inf to your desktop.

Right Click DelDomains.inf on your desktop and select "Install"

It will perform a silent process>Give it a minute to run!

Run the Hoster again!

Click Start-> Run-> Type in Services.msc and Click OK!

Scroll that list and locate this entry

System Startup Service

Right Click that entry and Select Properties-> Click Stop-> Go up and change the Startup Type to Disabled!

Click Apply-> OK and Exit the Services Page!

Right Click the Zip Folder and Select "Extract All"

Don't use it yet!

Restart in Safe Mode

Run the l2mfix again,run both Option 1 and 2!

Save the log from Option 2!

From the WinPFind folder-> Doubleclick WinPFind.exe and Click "Start Scan"

It will scan the entire System, so please be patient!

One you see "Scan Complete"-> a log (WinPFind.txt) will be automatically generated in the WinPFind folder!

Post back with a fresh HijackThis log and the reports from WinPFind and l2m!

I did the steps above. When I rebooted after being in safe mode, I could no longer connect to the internet. Somehow my network connection was erased. Posting now from my work computer. What do I do now? I called our ISP and he tried to walk me through setting up a new connection, but the system icon in the control panel would not open. I tried to do a system restore but there were no dates to go back to....

What do I do next?

Do you have the logs from the l2mfix from the last run?

Download rdrivRem.zip-> Unzip and Extract All Files!

Restart the PC in Safe Mode!



Once in Safe Mode double-click rdrivRem.bat to run the program - follow the instructions on the screen. After it's complete, rdriv.txt will be created in the rdrivRem folder.

While in Safe Mode and Windows Showing Hidden Files

i've found and deleted some of the files listed above (while in safe mode). but nail.exe keeps reappearing in the search window. how can i permenantly delete it?
