no i do not have WINDOWS CD, is there any other way to get one. someone gave me the laptop as-is, it didn't come with anything

Hi Sheezes,

That is what I was afraid of. Chances are very high that you do not have a legitimate copy of Windows.

Without a Windows CD, we will not be able resolve the issue

umm ok i think i can ask a friend if he/she might have a legit CD. if i do i'll reply ASAP, but thanks so much for your help!

ok,

You will be able to restore the laptop with a borrowed CD. However you will not be able to get the updates for Windows and you would be wide open to infection in the near future inspite of all types of protection programs
