Can you ask the person with admin privileges for help? That would be the easiest way to log in.

hI, joeieandshelle

The guy that set up my computer put me as limited user.
Why he did that I dont know. :tazz:
My admin acc. got deleted somehow, and I was a limited user. I couldnt do anything to fix that so I had to reinstall windows. Thats all I can tell ya. ;)
You might have to do the same.

XP won't let you delete the only user account with admin priveleges. Cranky, are you sure there wasn't another admin account?

joeieandshelle sent me a PM explaining that all the other accounts are limited, and the user account with admin rights has a "forgotten" password.

In order to violate the rules of G2G, my next suggestion would be to log into the REAL admin account. (In Home it must be accessed through safe mode, and the password is often blank on OEM machines; in Pro you must know the "REAL" password set at the install.) Two taps of Control-Alt-Delete at the Windows Welcome screen will give you the option to log in as the real administrator.

Johanna

p.s.
By keeping all the info on the forums, we all learn from everyone else. PMs take the conversation away from other people searching for answers.

Hi Czarina

Well all I know is when I shut my computer down and it restarted it only showed
one account and that was mine. It didnt say admin. acc. just my name.

Ok just found my other Topic and here is some of what I said.

(Ok !! Here is the problem. He has me as (Power user and Backup user) .
Not as administrator. I never had to use administrator before.
I just looked in computer management.
I Never had to change any thing with administrator rights before.
When shut down and restart I only see my account (no administrator account).
I guess I will just have to leave things as they are because I dont have the
rights to change anything. When I go to control panel / user account I just see my
account as (unknown account type). No administrator account is there.
Its no big deal, but I will ask him why he did it like that.
Its not worth doing a new install just for this.
Unless it can be done with just a repair.)

If you read the whole topic it also will explain that I still could not do anything even though I was a (Power user and Backup user).
I really dont know what went wrong, but that problem is solved.

Is the computer yours or not?

Depending on your answer I know a way around it that could get you in.
