Can someone please help me. My computer is beyond infected with I don't know what. I've tried all the software to clean it out but the problems continually com back. I just used Ad-Aware and then ran HijackThis. This is the log:

Hey "boastarowl" <_< how about updating hijack this for us.
Click Here download the latest version of Hijack This (1.98.2). It's better able to catch the latest threats.

You have a number of randomonly named files on your system. We like to start with an online virus and trojan scan. Even though you have antivirus software on your system, it can become corrupted by malware.

Please run a free online virus scan here (tick the "Auto Clean" checkbox):

Reboot your PC.



Download Ad-aware from: http://www.geekstogo...n=download&id=5

Install the program and launch it.

First, in the main window, look in the bottom right corner and click on Check for updates now and download the latest reference files.

Next, we need to configure Ad-aware for a full scan.

-> Click on the Gear icon (second from the left) to access the preferences/settings window

1. In the General window make sure the following are selected:
  • Automatically save log-file
  • Automatically quarantine objects prior to removal
  • Safe Mode (always request confirmation)
2. Click on the Scanning button on the left and select :
  • Scan Within Archives
  • Scan Active Processes
  • Scan Registry
  • Deep Scan Registry
  • Scan my IE favorites for banned URL’s
  • Scan my Hosts file
  • Under Click here to select drives + folders, choose:
  • All of your hard drives
-> Click on the Advanced button on the left and select:
  • Include additional process information
  • Include additional file information
  • Include environment information
  • Include additional object details
-> Click the Tweak button and select:
  • Under the Scanning Engine:
    • Unload recognized processes during scanning
    • Include basic Ad-aware settings in logfile
    • Include additional Ad-aware settings in logfile
  • Under the Cleaning Engine:
    • Let Windows remove files in use at next reboot
-> Click on Proceed to save the settings.

-> Click Start and on the next screen choose Activate in-depth Scan at the bottom of the page and then choose:
  • Use Custom Scanning Options
-> Click Next and Ad-aware will scan your hard drive(s) with the options you have selected.

-> Save the log file when it asks and then click Finish

-> When finished, mark everything for removal and get rid of it. (Right-click the window and choose Select All from the drop down menu and click Next).

Please delete your temporary files. Double Click My Computer (WinXP: Navigate to Start --->My Computer)
You will see an icon representing your harddrive (most likely C: Drive) Right Click on the hard drive icon and click Properties at the
bottom of the fly out window. One the very first tab (General) you will see a button labeled "Disk Cleanup"...click that button.
Make sure the following are checked:
Downloaded Program Files
Temporary Internet Files and
Recycle Bin
Click OK and Disk Cleanup will delete those files for you.

-> Reboot your computer.

I did all the things you asked me to. The "disk cleanup" wouldn't work. It just sat there for about 30 minutes and when I tried it again it wouldn't even open. It's been doing that since the computer's been infected. My computer has also become painstakingly slow. Here's the new HijackThis log:

You have McAfee and Grisoft anti-viral running? You only need one running. Having more than one anti-viral product running just causes problems. Uninstall one and try going in manually and deleting the contents of your temporary files (not the temp. file itself).

Right-click on start>>explore and search for temporary files.

Try doing that and someone will be working on your log. <_<

I found a file simply called "Temp"

Don't delete the file - delete the contents of the file. Are all hidden files showing?

Be sure you're able to view hidden files

Here's an easier way to get rid of them for XP users:

Please delete your temporary files. Double Click My Computer (WinXP: Navigate to Start --->My Computer)
You will see an icon representing your harddrive (most likely C: Drive) Right Click on the hard drive icon and click Properties at the
bottom of the fly out window. One the very first tab (General) you will see a button labeled "Disk Cleanup"...click that button.
Make sure the following are checked:
Downloaded Program Files
Temporary Internet Files and
Recycle Bin
Click OK and Disk Cleanup will delete those files for you.

Please go offline, close all browsers and any open Windows, making sure that only HijackThis is open. Scan and when it finishes, put an X in the boxes, only next to these following items, then click fix checked.

Thanks. My system is running a lot better and the pop-ups seem to be gone. Some things are a little slow still, though, and when I ran ad-aware it came up with a lot of critical objects. Here is the HijackThis I just ran. Is there anything else we can do? Oh yeah, also a window popped up that said something about "jit debugging." Is jit debugging supposed to be on my computer?

Please go offline, close all browsers and any open Windows, making sure that only HijackThis is open. Scan and when it finishes, put an X in the boxes, only next to these following items, then click fix checked.
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Windows AdService] C:\Program Files\Windows AdService\WinAdServ.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [IST Service] C:\Program Files\ISTsvc\istsvc.exe

Please reboot into safe mode (continually tap the F8 key while your system is starting, select Safe Mode from the menu).
Be sure you're able to view hidden files, and remove the following files in bold (if found):
C:\Program Files\Windows AdService
C:\Program Files\ISTsvc\istsvc.exe

Reboot your PC.

If you would please, rescan with HijackThis and post a fresh log in this same topic, and let us know how your system's working. <_<

I looked for those items but none of them were there. I think I deleted them before. My computer is running much better than before but there are still some gliches. For instance, my SBC connection manager only works one out of about five tries and sometimes the computer just freezes up. Also, I keep getting notifications as I mentioned in the last posting (jit debugging). I really appreciate all the help your guys are providing. I would be lost without it.
