Hello and welcome!

Ok, let's get you fixed up.. Start with the following process;

Download CleanUp
Install the program, dont run it yet, we will later.

Download Ad-aware SE Personal

Run the Ad-aware installer.

When done, launch Ad-Aware SE and run the WebUpdate feature. (Click on the Globe icon, Click "connect", Click "OK", Click "Finish".)

IF you are having problems with the updating, get the manual updates here; http://download.lava...public/defs.zip

Exit Ad-aware for now.

Now run the CleanUp program:

*IMPORTANT NOTE*
CleanUp deletes EVERYTHING out of your temp/temporary folders, it does not make backups.
If you have any documents or programs that are saved in any Temporary Folders, please make a backup of these before running CleanUp

Running CleanUp
  • Start CleanUp by double-clicking the icon on your desktop (or from the Start > All Programs menu).
  • When CleanUp starts go to the Options button (right side of CleanUp screen)
  • Move the arrow down to "Custom CleanUp!"
  • Now place a checkmark next to the following (Make sure nothing else is checked!):
    • Delete Cookies
This is optional, if you leave the box checked it will remove all of your cookies, at this point removing cookies is a good idea
    • Empty Recycle Bins
    • Delete Prefetch files
    • Cleanup! All Users
  • Click OK
  • Then click on the CleanUp button. This will take a short while, let it do its thing.
  • When asked to reboot system select No
  • Close CleanUp
Continue with launching Ad-aware..

1. Set up the Configurations as follows:
  • Click the Gear wheel at the top of the Ad-Aware window
  • Click General > Safety & Settings: Check (Green) all three.
  • Click Tweak > Cleaning Engine > UNcheck "Always try to unload modules before deletion".
2. Click on "Proceed"
3. Click on "Scan Now"
4. Deselect "Search for negligible risk entries" as negligible risk entries (MRU's) are not considered to be a threat.
5. Select "Search for low-risk threats"
6. Run the scanner using the Full Scan (Perform full system scan) mode.
7. When the scan has completed, select Next.
8. In the Scanning Results window, select the "Scan Summary" tab.
9. Check the box next to every "target family" for removal.
10. Click "Next", Click "OK".

Then exit Ad-aware again...

After this part, we'll fix Elitum--

Please download miekiemoes' LQfix batch here:
LQfix.zip
Unzip it to the desktop but do NOT run it yet.

Next, please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following:
1) Restart your computer
2) After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
3) Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
4) Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.

For additional help in booting into Safe Mode, see the following site;
http://www.pchell.co.../safemode.shtml

Once in Safe Mode, please run LQfix.bat

When finished, reboot into normal mode.

Post a fresh HiJackThis log.

Thanks for your help.

Log seems to be cleaner and so does the computer. (No more wierd toolbar.) Some problems still persist unfortunately. Periodically, it would seem, 4 websites and a .bat (I think) are just opened, and it seems to affect my internet connection, it bassically doesn't work until I reboot.

I think the problem is Rpcmon.exe, I looked through google and it's said to be untrustable, but I haven't been able to remove it... Even in safe mode it's still running for some reason.

Sorry for my bad explination... But thanks for the help.

Thanks for your help, and sorry for the late reply. After stopping Rpcmon the problem seems to occur alot less often, unfortunately it doesn't seem completely gone.

Here's the log, I see a couple of things I don't trust but I'm not quite sure what the cause of the problem is... Thanks for your time.

Looks like you got some more baddies there. Do you have any anti-virus software protecting your PC at the moment?? I can't see any on your log.

RIGHT-CLICK HERE and Save As (in IE it's "Save Target As") in order to download DelDomains.inf to your desktop.
To use: RIGHT-CLICK DelDomains.inf and select: Install (no need to restart)

Run a scan with HiJackThis and check the following objects for removal:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Internet Optimizer] "C:\Program Files\Internet Optimizer\optimize.exe"
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Nsv] C:\WINDOWS\System32\nsvsvc\nsvsvc.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [vidctrl] C:\WINDOWS\System32\vidctrl\vidctrl.exe

Make sure they are checked, close ALL open windows except for HiJackThis and hit FIX CHECKED.

Then reboot. After the reboot, delete the following folders if present:

C:\WINDOWS\System32\nsvsvc\
C:\WINDOWS\System32\vidctrl\
C:\Program Files\Internet Optimizer\

Then empty recycle bin.

Run this online scan and post it's results here along with a fresh HiJackThis log:

Panda Activescan

IF you don't have any anti-virus active right now (Or you had one but the subscription is expired), can you then get the free edition of AVG here:
http://www.grisoft.c...s_dwnl_free.php

(NOTE: it's for home users only.)

Set it up, update and run a complete scan with it. Remove all it finds.
