:D First, my Windows 98 start menu won't allow me to open some things such as Control Panel and then some things won't close after I try to exit such as the Taskbar and Start Menu window. When I try to shut down it stops responding and I need to use the Ctrl Alt Delete function until it goes thru. This usually shows me that either the Explorer or Msqsrv32 is not responding. Also, the CDROM won't Auto-run anymore. Everything else seems to function OK. This started happening after I ended up with eZula/IE Searchbar/blazefind crap on my computer which I removed 90% of with Spybot S&D but also had to remove some stuff manually, it might have erased something else that I needed. No viruses found.
<_< Second, I had to purchase a printer with a parallel port because this old P133 clone doesn't have USB. I could never get it setup on my own (because of conflicts?) and have had to pay $35 twice now to the store where I got it to have them configure it to a LPT1 port. Then, because of a power surge, I lost a bunch of settings. I was able to restore everything but the printer. I'd just like to know how to do this myself. This happened long before the first problem above.
The printer is a Kodak Personal Picture Maker PM100 by Lexmark.
Thanx.

<_< Where did Tazz go? I posted the topic Two Problems For Ya 5 days ago and Tazz responded immediately saying he was going to help and to post my hijackthis log file, which I have, and now nothing. I don't mean to be impatient, I'm sure he could be quite busy, or on holidays, or maybe he only works Mondays, or ... I don't know...please don't leave me hanging. I don't really even want to use this computer or net with it running like this. Come back!!

Click Here to download TheKillbox. Extract TheKillBox.exe from the zip file and double click it to open it up. In the 'Enter Full Path and Filename to Delete' box, copy and paste the entry below, click 'Find and Kill This File':

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\sglpcbgv.exe

Click 'Exit' when done.

Note: If you receive a message such as: "Component 'MsComCtl.ocx' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid." when trying to run TheKillbox, download and run: http://www.javacools...ngfilesetup.exe. Then try TheKillbox again.

When finished, reboot and post a new hijack this log.

Sorry, I can't find that file anywhere under system. <_<

And the Windows Troubleshooters are no help at all. The printer is listed in my start menu under programs as Lexmark Z11 Series - Lexmark Z11 Control Program on LPT1 (I can right click on this to get properties) but will not run or uninstall. I get the error message Ixcastmn "Lexmark Z11 Colorfine "is not installed on"" and I get this same message when I run the installation disk. No printer is listed under settings.

You probably have an IRQ conflict. Do you know how to get into the BIOS setup on your computer? Usually tapping F1, F2, F10, or the Delete key right when you start the computer will do it. If you're able to enter this setup menu, look for an option to see if PnP OS is enabled (plug 'n play operating system). If not, enable it. Don't change anything else. Save and Exit (usually F10).

edit: Do you have the latest printer driver from Lexmark installed?

What kind of computer is this? (Make/Model)

Hello again,
I can get into the Bios no problem but can't see anything called PnP OS to enable it.
The computer is an old pentium166 clone (Frankenstein built by a friend years ago that now lives out of town).
I know its time for something a lot newer but we want to keep this one for printing pictures and word processing.
As far as I know the driver is installed with the installation software.
Any more ideas?
